It really is about political point scoring, the government fooked up again, showing little to no care over the poorest kids in our society and had to be shamed by a footballer into doing something about it, we shouldn't ever, ever forget that, it's bloody shameful. This doesn't need to be about political point scoring, fair play to the government for implementing this and fair play to Marcus an excellent result all round
Only if Central Office tell them to.Burying their U-turn in with US elections and remembrance Sunday. At least they came to the right decision in the end. I hope all those Tory MPs who defended it and accused Labour of political point scoring and virtue signalling will apologise and admit they got got it wrong.
I'm just happy there will be less hungry kids now and the government made the right decision in the endWhat is prycey on about. Starving innocent children is as political as it gets. Johnson was forced into this through public pressure not for any sympathy for the millions his government put into poverty.
Let's not pretend the government made the right decision for the right reasons, far from it.

No not a joke at all, I'm ecstatic that this has been brought in to protect those vulnerable children from hunger. It was disgraceful that it can even be in question by the government in the first place and some of those coming out defending it were rightly hounded. The right decision has been made and we move on now. That a joke? All the hate and stigma this generated towards genuine families that have been left with the awful realisation that they can't provide for themselves or their kids due to forces out of their control.
Tory MP's tripping over themselves to blame said parents for being in that position, generalising them by stating without evidence, that free school meals vouchers are spent on alcohol, drugs and prostitution.
Not to mention all the "advice" they received on how to live for a week off a £3 "large" chicken and some bread.
This is a disgraceful situation that for the fraction of the billions being spaffed away without a second thought by this government, should never even have been debated let alone campaigned for and rejected twice!
The final insult in this horrid episode, they can't even do the right thing without trying to bury it into the US election and remembrance Sunday.

Yes I will defend my words it was disgraceful that this wasn't implemented straight away and the fact MPs defended it is awful and should have resigned for even doing that and yes fair play to the government for finally doing the right thing, well done to them. I hope this policy stays even after covid-19From 'fair play to the Government' to calling them disgraceful in a few posts. As an impressive a u-turn as you'll see.
Well done to them... Hmmm I don't agree, they deserve no credit for a decision they were forced into. This government are happy to see children starve. You're entitled to your opinion however ridiculous.Yes I will defend my words it was disgraceful that this wasn't implemented straight away and the fact MPs defended it is awful and should have resigned for even doing that and yes fair play to the government for finally doing the right thing, well done to them. this phrase is the most machiavellian phrase going. It's only right wingers that I see using this and the purpose of it is to undermine the concept of empathy, it's a sociopathic tactic.virtue signalling
how many more good decisions will require celebrity intervention. Bizarrely they fund facebook campaigns to say how celebrities should stick to their singing, acting, football and not politics, but without those people this government would constantly come to the wrong decisions.Yes I will defend my words it was disgraceful that this wasn't implemented straight away and the fact MPs defended it is awful and should have resigned for even doing that and yes fair play to the government for finally doing the right thing, well done to them.
