You make it sound like Gibson had a plan. He didn't.If we had appointed Warnock after Pulis the board would be full of fans complaining that the football is too boring. Woodgate gives us at least until January.
Woody was his own worst enemy. He tried to play expansive football with pragmatic footballers.
At least we still have the recruitment team intact to unearth more gems, such as Bola and Dijksteel
Weren’t we 2nd in the league when we sacked Southgate due to the fans thinking the football wasn’t “exciting” enough
Yes and that was after a spineless relegation as well. We'd only just been hammered 5-0 at home off West Brom. Hardly an undeserved sacking.
We were actually 4th in the league although only 1 point off the top after that Derby game when Gareth was sacked although Steve Gibson apparently admitted that the decision to relieve GS of his job had been taken weeks before the event.
As I remember it, weren't Boro winning away and not being too successful at home up to his dismissal?
We never have a succession plan, we throw the baby out with the bath water and start from scratch. Only an arch pragmatist like Warnock could have fixed that mess so quickly. We better be planning now and not just pick a manger depending on how the wind is blowing.
