Yannick Bolasie loan deal

I'll be happy enough if we get him. He didn't pull up any trees at Villa but Warnock has worked with him before and knows how to get the best out of players, as he's proving so far this season when you look at Djiksteel and McNairs' performances.

Think it would be possible to stick with wing-backs and fit Bolasie into the side;

...................................Bettinelli................................

.....................McNair...Hall.....Djiksteel.............

Spence......................................................Johnson

........................Howson........Morsy........................

Roberts........................................................Bolasie

..................................Chuba/Britt..............................

Or if we go with a back 4;

.................................Bettinelli..................................

Djiksteel........Fry...................Hall..........Johnson

...............McNair.....Howson......Morsy...............

Roberts.......................................................Bolasie

.............................Chuba/Britt..................................

There is clear scope to sign PL fringe players who earn big money for a very small contribution to their clubs.
I'd much rather we signed Danny Rose than Bolasie. Rose is a very very good player and I think there is much more chance he will settle and lift the team.
I think Bolasie is a waster and finished. I hope he doesn't come and think he will be disruptive.

Well, I was in favour in 2018 when we tried to get him. However he preferred Villa and it arguably proved a narrow escape. Whether Warnock can get the best from him is one thing, the main question is now what is the best of him?

I worry that he is dining on past successes and his hunger for playing might be somewhat diminished. I worry at what his presence will do for team moral. The old Bolasie I would have had in a heartbeat, I just hope that the club has done due diligence on him. I too would have perhaps preferred Rose. Hopefully Baba Rahman will arrive and ideally Phillips. The fact that Browne is going nowhere may indicate we may not be bringing in a CF

So long as we dont sign Besic (!). Apparently he is still at Everton, though I havent checked.
Theres lots of never-quite-made-it not-good-enough players out there.
I believe Warnock when he says he knows who he wants in his team(y)
Dont let the "recruitment team" near the bluddy phone today!

I genuinely think the "recruitment team" have been tweaked or reshaped since Warnock came in. I think that was very much one of the things that he stated needed 'overhauling'.

I think its gone from dvds to players Warnock likes or one's he can ask former managers and friends about. I read they went back 3 managers with Morsy. He must have such a network of contacts.

I guess the fact Bolasie has played under him must help. He's only got 9 months contract left and never gonna play for Everton. So maybe he's coming on buttons to put himself in the shop window for next summer.

I think even on 'bottons' it will he a significant outlay. Then again I can't believe Gibson would entertain it if he thought we couldn't afford it. It seems odd when it appears we've lost out to a few players due to wages (Williams / Moore) and haggling over a couple of hundred grand for Goode. I'm sure Bolasie also will have a loan fee (200k - 500k maybe). We paid 2mil for Hugill 😕

I thought Besic was alright for us. Bit of a strange payer though, a defensive midfielder who seemed better at dribbling than he did at tackling.

Certainly not worth the reported £6m uncle Tony wanted to splash out to add him to his prized collection of defensive midfielders (had no choice but to sell Bamford though apparently 🙄). Good job his agent got greedy.

What happened to old fashion scouting ?
Find a young gem , improve him , put him in . Low wages , 3 year deal .
Bolasie - 8 months time he leaves , and hey ho , its start looking again .
False economy IMO

I’ll stick my neck out and say we won’t sign either Rose, Rahman, Gregory or Bolaise.

Just a gut feeling. #Bausor

We did that with Browne, Bola and Dijksteel last season.
It might still pay off.
Definitely looks likely to on Dijksteel.

He was a much better player than many realise. The team performed far far better with him than without, the results with him were so significantly better, I can't remember exactly but it was like twice as many points when he played.

What's his £s to goals ratio? When did we have such a good value player?
I think you clearly have a far higher opinion and value for him than I bear66. He has failed (so far) to kick on from that early promise (imho). He has a shot, a good one, but as a CM he looks very much like a lost soul at times as play seems to pass him by, a bit like it did Traore. I would love him to kick on, but I don’t see him working hard enough in games recently, when he has been on the pitch. I would put his value at maybe around £500K to £1M as things stand (post covid), but if he were sold, I would want a sell on clause just incase. I am sure many will disagree, lets hope you and they are proved right.
