7 police officers with fire arms

I was thinking that. I'm no expert on armed police but surely they aren't routinely despatched because they might be in the same area. I would've thought they would be specialised teams who would be ready to act at a moment's notice if there was a serious situation going on.
That's correct.

Getting on for 15 years ago now, but when I was in the police they operated as traffic cars with the guns locked away in the vehicle unless called to an incident.

Dunno it is a funny one, it does seem over the top by the police but at the same time the guy is obviously refusing to close gym which at the end of the day is for the greater good of the community as a whole not sure who's side I am on tbh

Right. Can you give us your take on this Festa?

Same as everyone else really. unnecessary and a really poor decision from whoever decided to take that approach. Can't think what circumstances would lead to this happening but can't imagine they deliberately armed themselves to go and deal with it. More likely they were armed for another reason (an operation or something) and have been asked to attend. But still stupid.

Remember that phrase ’common sense’
How about a concerned police ant going into the gym and having a serious chat with the owner clearly laying out expectations and making it clear the serious consequences of not complying.
Seems fair to me
Do we know that's not already happened?

The guy explains. He can be fined for disobeying. Then fined again 3 hours later etc. etc. That's the extent of the allowable threat so enforcing fixed penalties with guns seems a bit extreme.

I know this might sound stupid, but if the gym owner had taken heed of several warnings he would be £1000 better off.
Why did he think he could flout government rulings?.
Is it cos he’s a scouser and exempt ?.

But government rulings are flouted every day, sometimes by people who implemented these news laws. And they don't have armed police following up.

I think he's perhaps one of a seemingly growing number of people who are so exasperated and frustrated by the whole situation, not helped by the govt (re: Cummings disobeying rules for example, even though it was months ago), that they are just going to do their own thing. I'm not for a moment suggesting that is the correct thing to do, for what it's worth i do not think this will help, but people are sick as a chip and just want to be able to run a business and keep it afloat before their bank manager calls time and they're out of work
