Proving a lot of doubters wrong. Pity its for leeds but i am pleased for him
Just needed a decent run of games and he will score goals, absolutely criminal that we sold him for that price and kept Britt and Fletcher who are half the player he is
Still can’t stand him after his little act against Villa where he looked like he was picked off .
I wonder what Karanka thinks looking back at his January 2017 meltdown.
Wanted Jese, Bojan, Snodgrass. Got Bamford, Gestede, Guedioura.
Knowing what we know now, Snodgrass is the only one you'd really say we missed out on. I'd much rather have Bamford in the squad than Jese or Bojan.
And Delefeou. I would have had him though.
Blame one person. And one person only. Tony Clulis.
At least he left us with 500 central midfielders though.
No, sorry Marv, I am not having that at all, you are giving the owner a get out of jail free card there. Pulis is not to Blame, he was the well paid public face for the owners decisions, a well paid fall guy who has broad shoulders. Gibson is to blame if anybody. Pulis did not run the club. Pulis was Gibsons ‘Oddjobb’. Nothing happens at Middlesbrough FC without the approval of Mr Gibson Imho. He must have wanted the deal to happen, Pulis merely facilitated things.
Why people blame managers for everything is beyond me. If anyone absolves the owner of responsibility in the buying and selling of players then you are kidding yourself. I doubt Pulis held a gun to the owners head and said you must sell Bamford so I can buy Saville. It will suit the owner for people to think that though
Where on earth have I give Gibson a get out of jail free card?
He was the idiot who picked Pulis as manager, and then continued to keep him in charge after that ridiculous 2nd leg performance at Villa Park - in which his P45 should've been printed the second the full time whistle blew as it was clear the bloke didn't have an absolute clue what he was doing.
However, if you seriously think it wasn't Pulis' decision to get rid of Bamford, and then sign a million midfielders, then I'm sorry, but you're in denial.
Pulis had the final say on transfers. Obviously Gibson has a say too, but the final decision was always down to Pulis.
Selling our best striker, and failing to replace him, was a truly remarkable decision....you didn't even need hindsight to see what a car crash that was going to be.
You said blame one person and one person only. Those were your words. You are a top poster and I generally agree with a lot you say. Gibson has a veto as owner, he ultimately decides. I am not in denial at all, some fans are. Some fans think the head coach has total responsibility. They don‘t. Bamford was sold for profit pure and simple Imho. Nobody wanted any of the other rubbish the owner wasted £40M + on. Pulis was Gibson henchman to assist facilitate said profit. To suggest the owner does not have the final say is unbelievable, in fact it is ridiculous. People really are brainwashed it seems. To suggest an owner of a business does not have the final say on anything that occurs within a company over an employee is frankly ridiculous, sorry but it is.
I have banged on about Karanka pointing out his gifts. People mocked. We then had Downing state on BBC Radio Tees that Karanka did not want him and still people believe players are bought and sold by managers is laughable.
Yes and I still blame Pulis for that decision because it was him who ultimately had the final say and told us to sell him.
Gibson, clearly has to sign the deal off, but he give Pulis full support over the decision because he put faith in Pulis.
As for previous transfer dealings under other managers, I agree. Southgate with Alves when he wanted Emerton....Karanka with Rhodes when he wanted McCormack etc....but with Pulis he had the final say.
Pulis is certainly not a yes man. He never has been and never will be.
So yes, I blame Pulis for the mess he left us in and the fact we sold our best striker and didn't replace him.
Pulis, imho, is a money man first and foremost, there are people in this world who will do anything for money. I think he was asked to do a job and did exactly what he was paid to do, unfortunately for the fans, it was a failure. If anyone deserved the title of the man of a thousand faces, it wasn’t Lon Chaney. If you think the owner of a multi-million pound company would hand over total control of recruitment and retention then you are kidding yourself. What was Brian Conley’s catchphrase again?
