I do love some of that early stuff. Chelsea Girl, I Travel, Love Song, American and Sweat in Bullet all faves of mine.Toss up between this and sons and fascination for me. The early years at Virgin Records were superb until Steve Lillywhite got his hands on them
I thought real to real was just weird but Empires & Dance through to New Gold Dream was the best new wave stuff around for me.I do love some of that early stuff. Chelsea Girl, I Travel, Love Song, American and Sweat in Bullet all faves of mine.
I remember going to see them at Milton Keynes Bowl during the 1986 World Cup. My memory isn't great but I think they were supported by The Bangles, The Waterboys and The Cult?I did a few 1 day festivals in UK and Europe in the early 80’s.
They were on every bill
Usually with the likes of Big Country, U2, Eurythmics, Steel Pulse, Peter Gabriel and others
They were good days (i think)
Yeah just googled it. They played MK Bowl two nights running. I was there on the Saturday night on a coach trip from Middlesbrough bus station!I knew somebody whoi had a t-shirt from this gig (he never went) it had Simple Minds, The Waterboys, Lloyd Cole, Big Audio Dynamite and Dr + The Medics on it.
I think they were there a few nights and other bands including The Cult were on the different nights?

A stupendous album.
As an aside, how come R6 were playing it in full? Just because of its stupendousness?
Every Wednesday Steve Lamacq plays a classic album in full, last week he played machine gun etiquette by the Damned.
