Yes Labour have their problems. Big problems. The Forde report was released nearly two years ago and so far - according to the author - Labour have failed to address it. This should be a concern to all who are troubled by racism, but no it seems some just want to try to minimise.

FWIW I do think the culture in the Labour Party at the time of this tory donors comments should be considered. That prospect shouldn't upset you lot, Starmer wasn't leader at the time nor do I think he was particularly involved in the anti Abbott stuff going on within the party.

I'm thinking more of Jess Phillips going round news agencies telling a made up story about her screaming swear words in Abbotts face. Or the stuff in the leaked document where the party's most senior staff were they'd seen Abbott crying in a toilet and immediately leaked the location to journalists.

Or if you want similar from outside the party contemporaneously I remember a complaint the party made about the Question Time tv show basically having a pre-show audience hyper priming them to give Abbott specifically a hard time.

It's a discussion about racism. If I started a thread about Labour racism I would still be attacked by those who wish to sweep it under the carpet. Anyone who thinks that eradicating racism with a piecemeal approach and tolerating it from one source until another has been defeated will work, is naive.

I imagine that it wouldn't get many posts because there is nothing to say about it other than that it is unacceptable and those people found to be acting in or voicing opinions of a racist nature or in support of a racist agenda should be expelled from the party. That's it, end of thread.

We all nod and carry on.

But this thread was specifically about the utterances of a major Tory donor that the Tories are desperately trying to "move on" from but you want to make it about racism in general. As I said only you know why.

Do you not think that the failure of Starmer and the NEC to even acknowledge the findings of the Forde report let alone begin to address the problem would be worth discussing? The only people being expelled from the party in any numbers are left wing Jews who support Palestine.
