The stretch is believing one of the most high profile PR and media machines in the world, would release a heavily and obviously photoshopped image, and not think it would be scrutinised.
Lots of media outlets are having to withdraw their output and apologise after taking it in good faith this was a genuine photo and not what "amateur editor" Kate mocked up.
Surely thats a sign there’s probably nothing more sinister behind it though? If the editing has been so easily spotted, and clearly not done by a professional who would leave no trace of editing?

Exactly, when I pointed this out, I was told that they weren't wound up at all, and if anything, it was me - not sure how that works.
Anyways without even opening the thread I knew who would be on here losing his mind and no surprise Marts on ranting on again.....

I think that's probably the case.
Although I wouldn't put it past them to have pulled together some older photos and try pass it off as a recent one in an amateur attempt to try and kill some of the speculation around her health while she recovers.

Again, the issue for me isn't about conspiracy theories, it's about the photo itself.
A "kill notice" won't have gone out if it was just a bit of bad editing, it's if the photo isn't real or doesn't exist.
Photo manipulation is a serious issue and the Royal Family shouldn't be indulging in it. This image was on the front page of newspapers and as top stories on TV news, people should be able to trust that it's a genuine photo.

Would a kill notice be given if the photo had been put together from a series of similar photos so that all the kids were looking at the camera etc?

I think this is the issue here, not if, but why was the photo manipulated?
The suggestion she did so herself is so incredibly far fetched it's almost certainly untrue.
The speculation around her over the last few months had been unprecedented and the likelihood that the first image of her is not only released by her, unabated by Williams media team, but also significantly altered by her before doing so, is incredibly remote.
Why they've done it is open for debate, but on balance the official version is highly implausible.
Apparently the notifications are issued if the photo is released without detail of where changes have been made. In this instance whoever it is who checks these things has a doubt about the junior princess's left hand and without verification from the issuer about what might have been changed they have to stop further circulation. Sounds like a storm in a teacup to me.
Exactly, it is also widely reported in the news story that the royal family like to take their own photographs and then changes to photos (not just the royals) is common practice.
Some are just getting way way ahead of themselves.
