Henry Staunton former Chair of the Post Office who claims he was told to stall on compensation payments in the run up to the election
Or
Kemi Badenoch who is accusing him of lying

If it helps the Postal Services Minister says he doesn’t recognise what Henry Staunton is saying.
That will clear it up then 😂

Doesn't recognize. What the **** does that mean.

I remember Kwarteng trotting out this line for about 5 minutes on the radio when being grilled about his budget.

Can you imagine doing something grossly incompetent at work and sitting down for a meeting (one of those without tea and biscuits on offer) and refuting every accusation with "I don't recognise that as a fact." 🫢

I suspect she changed her mind about not appearing in the HoC today because nothing she says there can be legally prosecuted. She can now simply say to any media outlet that she has nothing further to say on the matter.

Exactly hiding behind absolute privilege and as you say she’ll just refer back to today.

Cowardly really esp throwing in the so called allegation of loss misconduct remark as well.

Staunton isn't going to back down. He was only in the position for a short while but long enough to find out the shenanigans that the government and senior civil servants were getting up to. He'll have his chance to tear them apart when he's answering committee questions.

How long before the press are set on him to dig up as much dirt as they can?

I suspect the bullying allegations will be what brings her down, if anything. She must be able to produce this and even then surely show procedure was followed. Bad form to out him in Parliament without even putting the allegations to him for a response.

One of them must be lying.

Does he mean senior civil servant or something slightly different like a spad maybe?

I wouldn't trust Badenoch as far as I could throw her, but if a Civil Servant did tell him to delay payments to help the tories limp to the election thats a clear breach of the civil service code (should be politically impartial).

That's not to say it couldn't have been one. But seems unlikely as they'd be an idiot to do it.

Badenoch had produced a letter she thinks exonerates her. It doesn't and clearly mentions keeping costs down as the primary concern.
