* The Unofficial "Official" Boro v Ipswich Match - Day Thread *

Not quite at it today but I think it was to be expected with the amount of players we have missing. We're still well in the game at least, just need a bit of quality to try and nick a goal.

Don't understand Greenwood being on the right, shooting and creating chances is his thing but I don't think he can do either of those from the right. Needs to be cutting inside from the left and looking to create something or having a pop at goal.
I guess him and Rogers have both predominantly played left and one of them had to go right. Unless we played Silvera which I'm glad he never

Don’t think this is just a Hackney/Barlaser problem. That’s definitely a factor here. But there also a significant lack of width imo. Plenty of gaps in their backline that could be exploited by a quick switch and a bit of pace.
100% it's far more than one player. I do think we look too soft in the middle but we don't have enough quality on the pitch to play the way we want to.

Behind at half time again. Hopefully a classic second half comeback is on the cards. Watched Boro v Basle and Boro v Steaua last night back to back for luck. Come on Boro!!!!

We are too laboured in our play. I just can’t see us scoring ( hopefully massively wrong), not very impressed by Ipswich just an average championship team on that performance.

They don’t have the individual quality of Leicester.

There keeper is a very effective sweeper and has been able to nullify LL’s pace.

Very tepid first half, no pace at all to our game and far too sloppy.

They have looked a bit sharper but nothing special. They took their chance and we missed ours.

Not many options from the bench but Greenwood is lost on the right, might as well give Silvera a go.

I fail to see how Lath can possibly justify a starting place - he has the first touch of a trampoline and zero composure in front of goal. He’s basically been an embarrassment in that first half, and Ipswich have been pretty bang average to be honest but then so have we. Our build up is way too slow and their back four are just strolling through the game. Get Coburn on ffs

While I understand the sentiment he’s actually shown more composure than Coburn has this season. What we miss from coburn is his physicality and hold up play.

Wouldn’t mind Gilbert getting some game time as well, I think he’s looked pretty decent in the minutes he’s had.

How many balls have we played into the channels for him?

Yeah I think more so today than in other matches where we are resorting a bit more to a direct style. Coburn would hold it up better.

We have a **** load of injuries (including key players) and a couple of suspensions. As things stand we’re still only 3 points off the top 6.

Still fancy we can get something from this game, but even if we don’t we’re not badly placed.

Our top scorer, not sure who you would play instead, coburn has had plenty of chances and is no better a finisher.

The guy needs 5 chances on a plate to score one - he’s far more use coming on as a sub when teams are tiring than starting for me. Josh just brings more people into play and if you look at results when he starts then it speaks for itself. I actually think Coburn is far more composed in front of goal too

Wouldn’t mind seeing Lathe play out wide and Coburn up top if we are still one down with about 20 left. Getting anything today will be an achievement imho given our missing players and their form.

Take him out of the team first half and we wouldn’t have got anywhere near their box, crooks, greenwood and Rogers have been dog **** this half, howson and barlaser little better. We’re back to watching walking football again.
