Ticket Forwarding Questions Answered

There were several questions raised last week about forwarding season tickets from the new digital ticket set-up.
Below are the questions raised that I have lumped together and below that the answers from MFC.

1) Does the person you forward to have to be in your friends and family network - or is there a way to forward to someone else?

2). GRFZ - do they have to always contact the ticket office when forwarding their season ticket (s)? Is this a safeguarding issue?

Answers
  1. Yes you can only forward tickets to those in your ‘My Friends & Family’ network. But it’s easy enough to do if the supporter needs people adding to their network. If the recipient doesn’t have a ticketing account, it is easy enough to setup a ticketing account and add them straight to your friends & family network.
  2. Yes that is correct. When ticket forwarding is eventually functional online, you’ll see that we allow the ability to change the price type. So if an Under 18 ticket is being forwarded to an Adult, they can change the price type to Adult to make sure they don’t get in any trouble for concession abuse. We identified that we couldn’t offer this option to those in the Family Zone as we have a ratio of Adults to Children to abide by, so we had to disable the ability to forward in the Family Zone due to the fact that supporters could forward and upgrade tickets, leading to groups falling outside of the ratio. Supporters can still forward their tickets but they have to do so by ringing the ticket office so that they can check the ratios are still met.

(I was told the Club's Data and Insight Exec is working on a way to ticket forward in the family zone but disable the option to change the price type, this means the ratios would always stay the same however the supporter must take responsibility that they meet the price type criteria and it’s not an Adult coming in on an Under 11 ticket for example. What this all means is the club has a responsibility to ensure the family area is used by families and that people are not forwarding concession tickets to adults in this area.

Also - the Data and Insight Exec is looking at the current online guide for adding friends and family to see if he can give it a refresh.

The online ticket forwarding will hopefully be working in December. The ticketing provider seatgeek have been working on a fix after the problems at the start of the seasn.

Thanks for asking btw.

What I don't understand is why you can't forward an adult ticket in the GRFZ? Its not as if forwarding an adult ticket means there'll be more adults in there.

I presume it is supposed to be actual family or guardians isn't it - taking kids. For safeguarding reasons. But I have been told there are times when there are more adults than kids in that corner and they have to find a way to ensure it is being kept as a Family Zone.
From the answer they are working on GRFZ forwarding.

Well my folks are surely allowed to take my kids (their grandkids) to the match on my season card if I can't go. It seems bonkers that I can't forward my adult ticket to them and have to ring the club every time. I really don't see why it has to be this way, I'd even happily set it up so that I can only forward to that one specific address/account etc!

They have said they're working on it and having to ring up is only a stop gap measure until they get it sorted. To be fair to the club, although the implementation has been comically poor at times, it seems the intention has always been to allow tickets to be transferred freely as long as people aren't trying to use concessions they're not eligible for even though the terms say it's not allowed.

The above suggests that it isn't a stop gap, even if they have 'tried' to think of a way to enable it, it is the semi-permanent status.

Simple - only allow adult tickets to be forwarded in GRFZ. I don't see how this is a 'new' safeguarding issue. In the past I could have let literally anybody have my physical season card and sit in GRFZ.

I believe the problem has escalated in recent times of people forwarding cards and no longer using the family zone as a family zone.
Going to the ticket office is a pain but it is ensuring that the area is still being used as intended and as a bottom line helping keep your kids safe.

And also remember they are also working with the ticketing company (SeatGeek) and it is at that end that there are the delays in being able to forward tickets automatically online.

Thanks, but do we have a definitive answer from the club on whether downloading the virtual ST means that your physical ST will no longer work?
I’d like to download to my phone and then leave the physical cards with those who attend when I can’t.
Ta.

There's people in the GRFZ who dont even take kids to the game. Theres a guy who sits infront us. I Assume he has had this seat pre GRFZ and been allowed to remain in his seat?

To be fair i cant see there being many people in the same boat

TBF I don’t think they can make attendance compulsory? Maybe they lost interest during the first month of the season!

Yeah I saw that. And I was offering a simpler suggestion that means adults in GRFZ can forward tickets now; then this “Exec” can continue spending the club’s money on further enhancements in the background. Meanwhile, those of us who are being hugely inconvenienced can crack on with our lives.

It's been raised before but you could buy an adult ticket in the GRFZ and get a kids ticket with it (could be a random kid in your family) and they don't have to attend - which would be free if they were under 11.

Ours are 13 and 15 and I'm still not sure what happens when the eldest hits 18, do we all have to move out if we want to stay together? (we have 2 adult tickets as well)

Imagine a really stupid idea, like just making kids season tickets cheaper all around the ground?
