Our new badge..

Should do what Villa did and have a proper consultation with the fans on it.
Imagine the cost though of replacing badges on all fixtures and fittings at the Riverside and Hurworth. Then on every item online and offline associated with Boro.
Could we justify the expense ? Would that money be better spent elsewhere?

We could just change it in the shirts.. seen as they get changed every year anyway.

Mistakes are costly, and given that the club belongs to the fans, and no fan is responsible for the mistake, I think questions about the mistake (which directly impacts the club identity) are right to be asked.

To answer the question on cost - It’s basically impossible for us as fans to know how much money a “rebrand” would cost and how much money could be generated from such a venture.

But is it not worth asking the club if they would consider changing the badge?

I'd like to think the 150 year anniversary is an important milestone in our history. Our chance to showcase ourself, display our heritage and be proud. Trying to do that with the sub-standard badge is embarrassing and counter productive to growing our club and embodying our spirit in out 150th year..

The badge represents us as fans, but how can it represent us when our fans don't embrace it? I believe that's so important.

16 years and counting..

Does it owe something to our European Brethren perhaps?

I actually think it would be a good invetment - there are probably very few Multi Millio paound turn over companies that have a corporate ID designed by a student. Kits are expensive items and I for one would NEVER buy club merchandise that had that logo/badge attached to it.

Just update gradually 👍

I mean.. the fixtures and fittings would be the big outlay.. I imagine that the 86 badge stuck around in various guises a king time after the change was made.. I bet it’s still there in some cases.

But to say the cost of changing it on replica kit and even online.. where it’s updated regularly anyway.

Yeah - I think an "update when needed" policy would be the way to go. All digital assets would be easy and as you say, the kit is a redesign every year anyway

They haven't changed it everywhere though have they. When people do vids at the Riverside or Rockcliffe the 86 be badge is still in some places.

But they did it once to the current terrible one. So why not again?

Think they made a right pigs ear of that tbh.. still not right.. think they are changing it again.
That was Everton I think. They messed theirs up and ended up reverting back to the old one for a bit.

In response to Rob, we still have the 86 badge on various things at the stadium and training ground. As much as I don’t like the current badge it’s part of our history and we shouldn’t erase all memory of it if we do change, so no issue with it remaining on stuff, for a bit anyway.
