MEP Gunnar Beck celebrated Brexit as a move that has saved Britain sending billions of pounds to the European Union's coronavirus recovery fund.

I agree, we'll still have to pay and may pay more as the UK will be out alone trying to buy/negotiate without the power of the EU.
Poor grasp of economics but good sound bite

It's nice to finally be getting our country back - my family didn't fight and die in the Somme - so we would be ruled by interference by third-parties

What does that mean? You weren't the only. One who had families in wars .
Although you may not agree with the EuropeanUnion it's little bit naive to think that the UK currently isn't being influenced by other countries..
Look at the pressure the United States has put on the UK over 5G for example
.the UK isn't the big hitter that it was n 1870 & Indeed even if it were, nations need to co-operate more.

Think we've all lost family during both wars , the idea of joining was to keep the peace.
Mind you we should be really rich come January as promised.

Hang on keep the peace what peace is this then? as we didn’t join until in the early 70’s.

NATO kept the peace not the EU.

Great Nato during the Falklands mind. Considering we had 2 WW in the 1st 40 years, 46 years in the EU without a murmur.

I think that big wall splitting Germany oh and the threat of nuclear Armageddon if anyone stepped out of line has slightly more to do with Keep a European peace than the common agricultural policy.
