Akpom - Sheff U

The thing is Chuba is box office he has grown the Riverside crowd. We looking at the largest opening day crowd we've ever had in the championship on Saturday. Chuba has generated the club so much revenue for what he achieved last season alot more than 8 million we selling him for that's for sure

Continue waiting for it to turn to sh*t if it makes you feel better mate. The reality is 17th to 10th to 7th to 4th in four years, without parachute payments, with a bunch of hungry young players in place and a head coach who has everyone eating out of the palm of his hand. Some of the football we play under him is the best Iā€™ve ever seen a Boro team play. Call me whatever you like but Iā€™m going to enjoy it.
Donā€™t call me mate Viv, enjoy failure as things stand, lest you forget, as things stand

Someone who doesnā€™t agree with you is a knob?

Normally, I like reading your posts but youā€™re coming across quite abrasive here.
No he has been trolling me of late but feel free to have your view

What are you talking about? The season hasnā€™t started yet. And each of the last four seasons have seen us finish higher than the previous one. When Carrick arrived we were 21st. We finished 4th. We had absolutely no right to finish where we did.

The players, staff and - of course - the chairman and Bausor and Scott were being absolutely slaughtered until Carrick arrived and showed everyone what a proper coach can do with a set of footballers. The team was flying BEFORE Archer and Ramsey turned up, they just made it even better.

You have absolutely no idea who the club are trying to bring in or whatā€™s going on behind the scenes. Neither do I. I suspect barely anyone on here has even the smallest clue of a detail. Not really. Itā€™s all just bluster. From me as well TBH.

But what Iā€™m doing is looking at whatā€™s going on and seeing a club assembling a young, forward-thinking coaching staff that encourages players to attack and express themselves and enjoy their football, a young and hungry squad with some genuine quality in it and with plenty of scope for many of them to push on and improve, and Iā€™m seeing reports of 26,000 tickets sold for second division game at home to Millwall.

Do you remember last summer? So many people were fuming about selling Tav with no replacement lined up. Me included. The season was written off. It was said we had absolutely no chance of doing anything without signing a replacement and that this ā€˜debacleā€™ showed how amateur the club was. We just need to make sure we stay up and try again next year. We were a mess on the pitch.

Then Carrick arrives. He looks around at what he has. He tweaks a bit. He turns Akpom into Pele. He never did sign that midfielderā€¦ because he was here all alongā€¦ and we finished 4th. The form had exploded before the January window opened. The coach and his staff had shown they could coach, that they could make a player and a team play better. Theyā€™re all still here.

What people are saying about Akpom and Archer now is EXACTLY what they were saying last summer, just it was Tav back then and the fact Wilder clearly wanted a No.10 to be brought in.

Again, I see whatā€™s going on and Iā€™m excited by it. Iā€™ve wanted us to sign and develop young players for years. Itā€™s the way forward for us IMO. The best young players from the division above arenā€™t even out on loan yet, theyā€™re still playing pre-season matches with their clubs. The types weā€™d want to sign will be the ones who are allowed out later in the month.

This is just my opinion. I canā€™t help but be excited about the football coming back. This club is going places with this coach and his staff IMO. Weā€™ll be there or thereabouts again. Bring it on.

Also I will stop calling you mate, it was supposed to be to try take a bit of the sting out of the discussion but if it came across as something else then I apologise.

So you DO know who weā€™re trying to sign or the intricacies of Akpomā€™s contract renewals or how much we got for Bola? My point on that front is the players of the ilk of Archer or Ramsey havenā€™t gone out yet. We donā€™t know which ones weā€™re going for. Well I donā€™t. Maybe others do, who knows. But Iā€™m sure we will be in for more players. Why wouldnā€™t we be?

I know we are in for other players, I do not know we will get the quality ones we hope for. I do know we fecked up on signings on 2 occasions, 2017 and July 2023. I do know we have a history of poor windows since 2006, so far this one is up there with some of the worst, lets hope it doesnā€™t end that way, there is still time, if not will.

So that renowned trusted source Nixon states Akpom could be available for Ā£8 million and it is now fact, a lot of criticism of the club here without any real evidence I can see. Am I the only one who also finds it strange we deride other clubs and question why players would want to go there when they are a yo-yo club who will also most certainly get relegated? As Boro fans that is the definition of irony
Do I really have to explain why Boro are a better long term bet for a player than Luton? FM!!

Brentford sold Watkins, who they bought for Ā£1.8m, for Ā£28m, nearly two weeks after they signed Ivan Toney for Ā£5m, both before the season started.

Not really comparable to selling a player we signed for Ā£3m for Ā£8m without a replacement already there, and after the season is underway.
But before that they bought and sold Maupay and before that they bought and sold Andre grey. Weā€™re still at that Andre grey level trying to sign Maupay to replace him

Youā€™re saying Iā€™ve lost the plot when you were taking about ticket sales haemorrhaging and Carrick being unhappyā€¦ you said yesterday we needed to replace 49 goals. Talking like Akpom has left. Itā€™s weird.

Itā€™s all if this, if that, if this is as sh*t as I suspect it will beā€¦

You know what I feel, I feel itā€™s just pessimistic as f*ck. Sorry for swearing mate but Iā€™m tired of this pessimism. The season hasnā€™t even started yet. Why canā€™t it be wow what if we go up, what if this lad hits the ground running we could make Ā£15m to reinvest, if Carrick did this with Akpom and Hackney and Lenihan then what can he do with Coburn, Rodgers, Gilbert, Barlaser? Why canā€™t it be wow, I hope we have a cup run this year or I canā€™t wait to see how Silvera does or if another young lad can step up like Hackney did.

Itā€™s been pessimism all week. And people are just ignoring everything Akpom and Carrick have said and just posting these absolute fantasies about fees and wages and bids and disasters and shambles and all the rest of it.

Can we not just look ahead to Millwall? Weā€™ve got a real coach here, with a fair few really good players to enjoy. Weā€™ve got good prospects.

Only my opinion of course. But some of the stuff Iā€™ve seen on here this week, itā€™s just mad. No offence but I just think itā€™s mad.
Really terrible post for so many reasons.
Utter club apologist, I canā€™t believe it is you posting.

It is utterly remarkable that anybody would see selling Akpom for Ā£8m would be a good thing.
Utterly remarkable.

May I remind folk that we finished 4th and get start the season without a left back, without a centre forward, with some punts from chubby Kieran and doubts about the future of our top scorer for 50 years.

Someone in Turkey will pay Ā£8m for Chuba in Janaury and we would have him till the end of January. The price now is at least Ā£15m. Chuba was player of the year for the Championship ahead of a player who has just sold for Ā£18m plus add ons.

Viv, I've also been gaslighted by indeedido claiming that I can't be the same poster I used to be just because he disagreed with me. Don't let his hostility to you and others get you down. You are easily one of the most reasonable posters on here and I for one think your posts on this thread are a breath of fresh air. Keep your chin up and don't let the bar stewards drag you down.
