Gerrard

Is it just me absolutely not bothered in the slightest all these players (and now managers) furiously scrambling to grab a slice of the Saudi pie?

When the "transfer/loan" shenanigans start (players loaned between clubs owned by the same country......sorry person) ...... Europe big boys won't like that 😁😁

I think it’s easy to criticise but the I ask myself would I go there to secure my children’s future and their children’s futures in such an uncertain and unpredictable world? Too right.

He has probably already 'secured' his children's future though.

I mean, do you want your kids to grow up knowing they never ever have to get out of bed at any point in their lives? They'd be privileged enough as it is in his case. Its not quite the same as going there as a pipefitter because it pays twice the rate as in Teesside.

Has he not already achieved that many times over,is it not utter and unadulterated greed?

He probably sees it as a sort of sabbatical from football and will earn more than he ever will in a full managers career.

Somebody will take a chance on him after Saudi and he will have raked it in.

I think that’s a part of it but it’s possibly too good to turn down.

I think anybody saying they wouldn’t take the money would think differently were they afforded the opportunity.

I'm sure he does. Anyway, I just honestly don't think I'd do it, I'd rather stick it out in the lower leagues in England struggling by on what I earned before and contributing to a game that at least still has SOME form of meaning left (even if it is ebbing away).

During apartheid, bands and cricketers got pelters for taking South African money, this isn't any/much better if you ask me. And cricketers in those days didn't earn that much apart from one or two top dogs. They certainly weren't Gerrard levels of rich, even comparatively.

Hes got enough money to secure half of liverpools future he doesn't need to earn a penny more in his life he is a greedy cůnt

The difference is that he was hardly scraping by.

It's blood money pure and simple. He's allowing a brutal regime to use his reputation to launder theirs. It's his life and he can do what he wants with it, but I don't know if I could face myself in the morning.

This Saudi sports washing is becoming fu##ing nauseating...
It is just a purile highlighting of the fact that maybe too much is never enough.
I think what a greedy bunch these footballers are...golfers are...politicians are...it just goes on and on..the power of saudi oil money has distorted our world so much and their treatment of the downtrodden the different the Joe blogs is horrendous.
I'm just sick of it....
Maybe I'm just jealous but I don't think so...I'm not a materialistic person ...I value people not money
But if I was offered 300 400 500k a week would I be able to say no.....christ its sickening.

I agree with what everyone is saying in terms of his current wealth, I’m making his decision for him from my point of view I think.

I would struggle to turn down wealth if it was offered to me if it meant my family was secure.

If I had a net worth of c. £100m, I'd be able to turn it down in the knowledge that I (and even my wife!) still had very significant earning potential in England.

Its a totally different question though, unless you're already worth what Gerrard is.
