Speed awareness course.

Mrs has recieved a notice of prosecution for speeding.
It's her first one after 35 yrs of driving.
She accepts she was speeding as she was doing 40 in a 30 zone . The zone has changed from a 40 to a 30 and she forgot.
Anyway she's hoping for a speed awareness course.
What I would like to know is do you pay for the course and the fine or is the payment for the course instead of the fine ?.

You pay for the course, it costs more than the fine but you avoid the points.

Should be offered the course though, guidance is up to 42 mph in a 30 zone.

Yes you pay for the course.
I did one about 6 years ago. It was quite interesting to be honest - though obviously I'd have preferred not to pay out for it
I think it was slightly cheaper than the fine, but adding the cost of getting there and home it worked out about the same
At the end of it they tell you you've passed and that's it - no fine and no points

Tip to get it cheaper, book the cheapest location and opt for a video course.
 
I'm in the same boat. Accept £100 or 3 points or speed awareness course £180??

58 in a 50......Max Verstappen is safe 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
 
I’ve got one on in a few weeks too, 34 in a 30, downhill, sun in my eyes, F***ing gutted.

Interesting. Friends daughter was caught a few months back and I'm sure they were looking at £180 as they were panicing as she's a student.

£100 + 3 points or £88???? No brainer. Couple of weeks before I fess up as being the driver so see what comes back. Does it vary between different Police Forces?

It will be less than £180, like I said above just look for the cheapest on the list and select remote course.
 
Got done last year on the A170 overtaking a tractor at 65…

Anyway the courses are all online now. Paid £80 I think with the Cleveland course as it’s the cheapest in the country. The only problem is we had 15 other people ringing in from other areas like London.

The bloke running it was tearing his hair out with one woman who was a Dr in London… she didn’t have a clue about speed limits and got every one wrong… even said the motorway was 90!

Lasted about 3.5hours with a break

Mine was Hartlepool and I was the only ‘local’ and I was in Bedale.
