You don't know where Southgate isKarankas just another ex manager for us as far as im concerned. I dont know what gary monk is doing now, where gareth southgate is or what tony pulis is up to. Same applies to karanka. He was backed plenty so time to put that fallacy to bed. Its always been weird how some fans wanted him back in the face of all evidence that he peaked here and has shown ever since that we were right to get rid of him. should have done it earlier.
Actually quite the opposite. Our form and mentality got far worse when we sacked him. All chances of survival were gone. We only took 6 points from 11 games after we sacked him (0.55 per game). We had taken 22 from 27 before that (0.81 per game). How can you say we were right to get rid of him?Karankas just another ex manager for us as far as im concerned. We were gone and its like saying weve been lost for fifty miles but its the fault of the guy who drive the last five. Karanka was lost, agnew was blind. That doesnt make karanka any less lost. We shouldve done it earlier but we shouldnt have done it with agnew - i dont think any of us expected that at the timeActually quite the opposite. We were miles away from survival anyway but we definitely didn't help ourselves by sacking Karanka. Ultimately the players weren't good enough especially after we lost Ramirez. And I would have been more confident of a return the Premier league under Karanka than Agnew or Woodgate. The recruitment relegated us, and only the hierarchy know who was responsible for that. Karanka did hint that signings were made behind his back.
glad you passed my attention checkYou don't know where Southgate is
Interesting example
I was at the Stoke away game. We where awful and the crowd had turned on him. There was no way back after that.Actually quite the opposite. Our form and mentality got far worse when we sacked him. What about a635 a6109 and then m1 from sheffield?I was at the Stoke away game. We where awful and the crowd had turned on him. There was no way back after that.
Look at the list of arrivals in that season. If you need me to go through and break it down and explain why each player wasn't good enough then we may as well end the conversation now. The only ones that were Premier League quality were Negredo, Valdes and potentially De Roon. Traore was nowhere near ready at that point. We were gone and its like saying weve been lost for fifty miles but its the fault of the guy who drive the last five. Karanka was lost, agnew was blind. Go on then, tell us where we failed in recruitment but before you do, check youre not labouring under the assumption that all karanka had to do was point and theyd have come to boro. He was backed more than mowbray was for a start.
Well that's fickle fans for you isn't it. It was 6 months after he'd got us promoted, he deserved a bit more repect in my opinion. The players weren't good enough but at least Aitor had us organised and tough to beat for a while. As soon as he went, the floodgates opened.I was at the Stoke away game. We where awful and the crowd had turned on him. There was no way back after that.
I think we'd have been better keeping the core of the squad that had succeeded in promotion and brought in maybe 6-7 quality players. Rather than overhauling the whole squad, some who weren't much better than we already had and others who were bought as development players.I honestly thought the players brought in were good enough individually, and the majority have gone on to have careers in the top leagues across Europe since. It just seemed like there was no real togetherness amongst it and maybe it was a bit too early for a lot of them.
We do seem to forget the likes of Leadbitter, Clayton and Friend should have been nowhere near a premier league squad by the way.
