I went to see them in Camden when they first signed with Creation. They had a young male singer with a bowl cut. They were incredible... and much more exciting than what they became later when he left and they went truly shoegaze. I did meet them later and we talked about making a music video together but the stars never did align on that one. Kevin really did look at hid flippin shoes for most of the time we were in the pub. Although the later shoegaze stuff was less exciting than their "Monkees on speed" iteration, i will always love Kevin for his work on the "Lost in Translation" sountrack.

Love Kopter myself, saw them at tge Westgarth and was a wall of sound.
 
My favourite band is called lily's. They have really been three different bands with changes in musical styles. Lily's #2 and #3 made 4 albums I have played to death. Lily's #1 were shoegaze. I've listened to the album once. Just don't like the genre really. You'd think I'd give it more of a go considering how much I like the rest of the stuff. Anyhow the album is called in the presence of nothing so if you like shoegaze you should give it a listen.

Remember seeing house of love in Leicester. Was feeling like crap, and although they were good I enjoyed Neds Atomic Dustbin more.
 
I saw Spaceman 3 in the Sensateria club Birmingham in about 1986. I did the door security there but I know I watched their set with Rob Lloyd from the Prefects/Nightingales. Spacemen 3 did that Marychain thing of playing the whole set facing their amps. I thought the noise they made was sort of Hawkwindlite. Rob ended up a real fan of Spiritualised afterwards though.
