Wilders Watford Meltdown

I think the Watford lads have heard mid game that Kompany may be going to Spurs and so, it would be inevitable that Burnley would once again pull out all the stops to snare Wilder. They will have been so deflated I’d imagine. No chance of a left footed CB, no overlapping CB, no 3 at the back and worst of all, they wouldn’t be able to hear tales of his CV through the years. Gotta feel for the hornets.

Love to see him fail. Never really liked him although I highly rated him and thought from late December to around the end of February we played some good stuff and had the great cup run. His ego will ruin his career he wanted a quick fix here and that rubbed off in the dressing room as he would’ve went at the first opportunity if he was offered the Burnley job. Realistically he should’ve gone after the Huddersfield game end of last season as he basically confirmed he wants too.

Thanks for the link op, great stuff 🙂.

But, riddle me this, if Watford only scored 1 and conceded 3, why does a photo half way down the article have this caption:

"Ryan Porteous of Watford celebrates after scoring the second goal for Watford"?

(Well I suppose it is a Reach website....)

He's blowing smoke up the backsides of Watford's support.

I doubt he was given a short term deal with the remit of providing a root and branch tour d'horizon of Watford's recruitment and playing staff.

He was supposed to be the catalyst for a quick bounce and he's failed, miserably.

The hatred for Wilder aside, there is actually something in what he is alluding to.
I've never understood how the Watford model could yield long term success. He talks about 20 individuals and them not being a team, how could they be when they change managers so frequently, and presumably with each change comes a change of style, formation, tactics etc.
The players must get to the point where they don't give a stuff about what the manager is trying to achieve, they know he'll be gone soon and it will be all change.
I'm no Wilder fan, but there have been better managers than him sacked by Watford, some good Managers too, and with each sacking, being sacked by them becomes less relevant to a manager's CV.
No, Wilder is an irrelevance to me, it's the Watford ownership and the Watford model that I really dislike.
