Are we all hoping he'd be first-choice RB next season if he does sign?

I've been saying for ages now that we need to sign a young RB in the summer but in fairness both Ayling and Smith have proven that they're more than capable of playing in Carrick's system. I guess the big question is how much of an effect will Smith's injury have had on him.

Starting the season on a points deduction, on the back of one of the worst seasons on record, with an ownership that's been very questionable.

He also has managed nearly a quarter of the assists he got for Leeds in just a couple of months for us.

He should be our first signing. He's been class since joining us. Also seems to be getting better. It's hardly surprising as he'd not had a kick for Leeds prior to signing.

Just seems a really infectious character. That's on top of being a really good footballer. Also didn't look out of place at CB in the second half (cover as paddy leaving).

You'd think we would be a step ahead of anyone else in terms of signing him. He appears to be really enjoying himself. Also forming a bromance with Latte Lath

I have no doubt he will have other offers. If Sheff UTD are genuinely in for him then parachute payments could be an issue. You'd think they could offer more money and maybe a longer contract. You couldn't knock him for going for that as its probably his final move.

Smith said he 'hoped' to be fit for the start of the season. That's hardly conclusive. So we need a RB and Ayling is ready made to go straight in. No fecking about getting used to the league etc.
