Arsenal are looking at former keeper and Poland international Wojciech Szczesny, 34, as well as Brighton's English stopper Jason Steele and Ajax's German goalkeeper Diant Ramaj as they look for a replacement for 25-year-old England international Aaron Ramsdale, who is expected to leave the Gunners. They are looking for an English trained keeper to keep the bench warm in Europe. No different to Chelsea signing Turnbull years back or Liverpool Brad Jones. Top keepers wouldn’t go to sit on the bench so they need to look a level below.

And Scott Carson at Man City.

I think you are doing Steele a disservice with comparisons to Turnbull and Jones.

DeZerbi has made the rest of us sit up and realise he’s technically a very decent keeper and footballer.

No need for him to go and warm a bench, he needs to go and be a no.1 for a club.

Not really, he’s lost his place this season, and while his distribution is good enough, his general shot stopping and catching isn’t for a champions league team as it’s pretty average. He’s certainly not going to be playing much if he goes to Arsenal.

i thought he was very unfortunate here. he was thrown in the team due to injuries and the only other options were the lads younger than him.

we weren't playing well at the time and he got absolute pelters for a young kid for every mistake

Jones became a half decent keeper eventually. He won the league and cup as feyenoords first choice keeper. Before trailblazing in Saudi and winning another 3 trophies as first choice
