Zoom meetings and interviews

I am sure its not as bad as some of the right wing media would have us all believe. I am sure our forefathers and their forefathers said the same things when they were no longer allowed to send kids up chimneys or down the mines.

We should be progressing as a society, and i think its the role of each new generation to keep moving the needle forward, or else nothing will change. There will always be a spectrum of what seems reasonable to some and what seem preposterous to others, and thats ok.

Luckily people have free will, but some things we choose to do or say may have ramifications. Equally people have the right to be offended, you can choose to care or not, that's each of our own choices as to where that line sits.
Good explanation. As long as people who are confronted by others perpetually telling them they are offended are 'allowed' to reply with 'So what?' Stephen Fry once said if someone said to him that they are offended he would respond with 'I don't give a f...k to be honest and why should I?' In life we will all be offended by different things and that is what makes us unique individuals. Some of my concerns come from a mental health perspective. We should be allowed to take risks, within reason, as that is how we grow, physically and emotionally. Life is about taking risks as that is how we learn about danger, and develop our resilience.

Re issuing an apology for the offence it has caused that seems to be par for the course in this 'woke' easily offended era. All the old films on TV now have a warning such as 'Please be advised that this film was made when attitudes were different and people may be offended by some of the language used' etc etc. We are all so easily offended now and have to be spoon fed information like this. I travel on the train to London a lot and a regular announcement on the train is 'If carrying hot drinks please be careful that you don't spill it and burn yourself' or 'Please be careful when walking on the platform as it is wet after the rain' OMG. I fear for the children growing up in this risk averse culture. Stealing apples from trees will definitely be out of the question.
Safety announcements are there to protect from compensation claims, it's nothing to do with society becoming risk averse
