Zetland Lifeboat

I love watching 'Saving Lives at Sea', completely hooked. What a fantastic job a band of, predominantly, volunteers do. I've often thought that it's ridiculous that such an important service is funded by charitable donations but I understand they prefer it that way as it keeps them away from government interference. Not difficult to believe when you look at the complete mess other public services are in and you see people like Farage accusing them of being a 'taxi service' for immigrants.

I've taken the kids there a couple of time and they really enjoyed seeing it and looking around at the different exhibits. A lovely landmark for the area.

I assume it's still in the building on the seafront? It's decades since I've been there although I was in there every week when I worked for Langbaurgh Museums. They had to be unbelievably mentally and physically strong guys to row that thing out in stormy seas.
Yes, that's right. The same place.

My dad used to help out at the museum. Good to see it's still going years later.
Every time I’m back in the area I make a point of dropping by this famous lifeboat. The museum is very interesting and inspiring, drop some money in the collection box as it also goes to a very good cause — saving lives!!
