If the league is decided on points per game ratio and we stay up, I think we will see a very youthful championship next season which will be to our advantage.

The days of big transfer fees are over for years in my opinion and teams will look to youth. Players contracts will not be renewed.

With regret I don’t think we will see Danny Ayala play for Boro again.

I think Brentford will have a youthful moneyball team next season will be challenging.

The relegated teams from the premier league will have an advantage.

But a lot of teams still have f f p sanctions hanging over them, Derby, Sheffield Wednesday and Reading.

But the experience Fry, Spence, Wing, Pears, Spence and Coulson have gained this season will put is in good stead. We have a youthful spine to the team. Spence and coulson will be champions league players in 3 years time.

I have not seen young kavangh play but how many other teams have relied upon youth.

Other teams will be forced to turn to youth and we will have a years advantage. We have a fantastic team.

I still have my reservations on then the manager.

But covid could be a great equaliser for football.

That's what we want - a bit of optimism. Promotion next season,finish top 4 Prem season after, striding like a colossus through Europe next!

If that is the case the best manager will get the best rewards in my opinion
 
I am sorry, but I will have to disagree with you on this. The teams who want to spend will find the money and hope it pays off For them to reach the promise land - sounds familiar to what is already happening.

The teams coming down (if any) will have their parachute money and I am sure a few teams will dig deep and find money in an uncertain time.
 
Spence is a real find. He might have that London swagger and attitude but he will play champions league football within the next 3 years.

Apart from Woodgate saying he had a bad attitude what did you not like about Spence, gravy173?

Game of opinions I guess, but I think we will be a superstar.

Also which clubs will splash the cash next season?
 
Just my opinion but I don’t think it helps players when, after a handful of decent games for a side in the Championship relegation battle, they’re talked about as being Champions League players in just 3 years. Not least, because they’d both be absolutely mad to sign for a Champions League club if they have any aspirations to actually play football and not be sat on someone’s b-team’s bench.

They’re both promising, young players. I don’t see how any further hype helps them. This kind of talk is the kind of thing I’d expect from their agents.
 
Obviously nothing is certain, but, in my opinion, there's absolutely no way Spence will be playing Champions League football any time soon.
He'll do well to be a consistent top end Championship starter.

He's not a particularly good defender right now, he's already having attitude issues after a handful of appearances, and a lot of the hype around him is down to just how poor the season has been and people latching on to any small glimmers of hope.
Look at all the expectation that was being placed on Roberts because he had one good game, even though he's been injured ever since.

He reminds me very much of Liburd, plenty of running, gangly legs, not the best at defending & looks clumsy on the ball when running at the opposition
Next season will be a telling sign for him, if he keeps on progressing he could have a future but too quick, too soon, to start talking about anything other than an average championship player

Don't think they'd be mad at all to sign for a Champions League club!!
 
My guess is that there will be a bit less money about in the Football League, but nothing dramatically will change, unless a lot of teams go into administration.

I can see the average wage coming down rapidly.

I also don’t think any players out of contract this summer should expect to increase their wage anywhere.

From a Boro perspective, we won’t re-sign a single player whose out of contract. The likes of Ayala, Friend etc have all played their last game I think.

Agree that unless Friend etc take massive pay cuts they won't be here.
Having said that Friend and Howson could still be here, rest not.
They aren't going to get better offers elsewhere.
