Your 1st FAC match

Mine was the 18th January 1972 at home to Man City in a 3rd replay

Giants Man City had got out of jail with a late penalty when with 11 minutes remaining Franny Lee dived, dusted himself down & put the resulting spot kick beyond the diving Jim Platt, who was playing his 1st FAC match

The replay, 3 days later at a packed AP, with 3 of my family in the boysend & bobend seen big John score the only goal of the game

Man City in their iconic away strip, snow all around the AP piled up against the advertising board

First away cup tie was at Chester, in the days when people knew who Hilda Ogden was.

A good turn out of Boro fans saw us fall behind 0-2 , at this point Gordon Jones remonstrated (maybe not the best choice of words) with the travelling support to moderate their choice of language.😀

No worries in the end, goals from Big John, a hat trick for the Cecil Gee model, and one from the original Downing, saw us win 2-5.

No programme, no ticket, great memories though.

Preston, January 87.

FA cup 3rd round day always felt massive when I was a kid.

9 years old, was convinced we would sail through against 4th division opposition - obviously my naive expectations of the Boro were much higher then.

Ronnie Hildersley scored a screamer into the East stand - Couldn’t tell you who scored for the Boro last week but for some reason I’ve never forgotten that name. It was also the first time I think I’d actually seen the East stand open with away fans in. It always seemed to be closed whenever I went in those days

Fa Cup 6th round replay at Old Trafford 1970 Lost 2-1 to a dodgy Willie Morgan penalty. The Boro following out-sung the United fans that night. I didn't go to

Mid 80’s young lad living in Nottingham, delighted when we drew Notts County away. Having known how long the journey was I was amazed at the number of Boro fans, the noise and one Boro fan dressed santa.

we were sat in the home end and I spent most time watching the away end. 1-0 win Hamilton the scorer (I think)

we went on to reach Wembley and beat Liverpool in the final 3-1*

Also you witnessed history Barnsy, with Frank Spraggon been named as our 1st ever FAC sub, he actually replaced Cecil Gee model

Plus I liked the reference to Hilda Ogden

I was at that game, Sunday football, our 1st FAC Sunday fixture, Hammy scored & they had a goal disallowed, I went on my own on the supporters coach

Yes Lee, it happened👍. The BBC and powers that be didn't like it, so erased the records.

Boro's 1st cash signing Paul Kerrs debut

1st Feb 1965 home replay with Charlton. Won 2-1 with over 30,000 there.

The thing that I remember most was Mike Bailey breaking his leg. Walking back to Newport Bridge for the bus home we saw him lying on a stretcher with his football shirt still on through the hospital entrance.

Ian Gibson and Don Masson scored our goals.

With his football shirt on, that's quality 😁

Their support was top notch that day. Bernie scored but was ruled out for offside I remember.

31 Jan 1962 Boro v Shrewsbury FA cup 4th round replay. Boro won 5-1
Not my first cup game but the first game I went to without my Dad.
I was only 11 and me and my mate got the train from Marske.
Arthur Rowley was playing for Shrewsbury. Look him up
We left the game with 5 min to go and missed the last Boro goal
We were scared we'd miss the train back home
Was also at the Chester v Boro game mentioned earlier , great day out
Great season
