You can already see how carrick wants his side to play.

It was a bold move from carrick to come straight in and rip up the 5 at the back a system this side has almost exclusively played for some time now through various managers.

But you can see already how he wants his side to play with close short passes no more hoof ball and instead to play through the opposition.

He wants players who are comfortable on the ball and he’s prepared to look deep into our squad to find them. Players who show for it and want to take their man on.

Of course it’s early days but we could have really scored 4 ( Giles one on one miss) goals away from Home.

so yes Really encouraging signs bring on Bristol c.

Looks like they've been told to get it forward quicker, we saw a lot less pointless sideways passing at the back. Also looked more compact and organised. So far so good, hopefully the club can back him up in the transfer market

Yes there is a clear indication how he has set the team up, one criticism is they give the ball away so much yesterday and better teams will punish that. Need to be better in possession McGree Giles and Howson for the their goal last night, so work to be done but encouraging.

I've been impressed with how quickly he's got stuck in and made big changes.

It's not time to get carried away, he's had a win and a loss, but he seems to have a plan to get the best out of what we have.

The loss though again showed signs as well as we scored ( again). I said on sat that he’ll have learned a huge amount from that game.

Last night again starts Forrs a player that has had token cameos at best.

Until we scored there was plenty of pointless side ways passing with no one other than the goalie and 2 strikers wanting to take responsibility and plenty of the crowd were on their backs for it.

The goal gave us the confidence to change things and try and do something with the ball, not the formation.

More to come from Carrick.
He said Monday he wanted players to move the ball quicker "up the pitch".
His method is to instil "belief" in the squad, not to be reactive and over-emotional [if we lose] and be composed during the game - not getting rid of the ball at all costs.
He hasnt started yet, but the team is improving already.
Good to see Forss playing a major part. He deserves it.
Whats happening to Hoppe?

He must have been reading this board and seen my 3 FOUR FOUR F'ING TWO posts :D

I enjoyed the game last night. Thought we sat a little deep in the 2nd half but when they scored we really stepped up to the plate and in the end it was a very convincing performance. Very happy.

Akpom & Jones were outstanding.

If we have the ball they can't score I suppose. No point humping it forward, losing it and inviting pressure. Let Hull chase the ball. I think the fans might have to get used to this - surely when we are winning games 3-1 they can get off the teams backs for keeping possession.

We played a lot of one touch stuff last night, that moves the ball quicker and makes it harder for the opposition to press and close down, early days but we did look much better.

Pulis, Woodgate and Warnock played with 4 at the back a lot of the time. Warnock changed his formation up a lot but he very rarely played with 5 at the back. It's only really Wilder who persisted with 5 at the back, although it is still impressive that he changed the formation they have been working with since last October. I think he'll need to be quite flexible with the way we line up this season as we have built the squad for a 5-3-2. But I think he's got off to a good start.

I noticed Fry playing it to feet more, with less aimless hoofs upfield. Keep it up
He got better as the game went on but the first 30 mins or so he kept panicking and dropping other players in it by giving them the ball when he had space and they were being marked or closed down because he didn’t want the responsibility.

I sense a very different philosophy from Carrick. He seems clam and measured and full off belief. I think his experience gives him the belief he can make us better. I get the impression he goes into games knowing his team is the best team and should win if they do things right. I'm not sure where I'm getting this from but it just feels different.

This is why I wanted carrick so much as you just know we will play the right way because he’s Michael carrick that’s what he is know for he’s the footballers footballer.

I must be seeing things differently - surely it was Leo that changed the system to 4 at the back and Carrick has simply continued with that system and personnel. I’m sure in time we will see a Carrick style team emerging but that won’t really take shape until after the January transfer window. Wins breed confidence so hopefully it’s onwards and upwards now!

In that case, Dael Fry should listen more closely. His punts upfield are pointless and he's nowhere near as good as he thinks he is with his passing.
Even a simple 10 yard sideways pass is played behind his team mate instead of just in front.

its quite simple start from the back, pick your 2 best centre backs as a pairing and surprise surprise we look far more solid . with every game under Carrick wilders tactics and stubbornness looks even more stupid
