Yannick Bolasie loan deal

Wing's physiology is the problem for me. Some players look awkward but can move fluidly when required. Lewis is very slow and doesn't appear to be able to run normally. He is massively knock kneed.
It is a major shame as I think he does have strong ability on the ball and has good vision.
Woodgate playing him so deep was brainless, absolutely brainless.
He was one of our better players season before last. He even chipped in with 7 league goals last season.

He is a success story, just because he hasn't kicked on to start every week in the second highest tier of English football (that could still happen) doesn't mean it wasn't worth plucking him from Shildon.

He's national league quality at best. For example when he was at Shildon there were and still are far far better players in that league and the ones above who for whatever reason be it bad luck, poor form etc haven't been picked up.by professional clubs.

Can't fault Boro for trying to pluck an unpolished gem out of non league football, there are more than you could imagine down here but the Lewis Wing experiment hasn't worked. When we are letting players with the potential of Liddle go and keep Wing he's either over-performing in training or is on such a low wage and keeps his head down doing the bear minimum that he's forgotten about by management.
If he's national league quality, let's see where he ends up next.

Personal opinion that's all having watched him play whilst he was at Shildon.
Well I am pretty confident he'll make a career for himself at a higher level than that, and be a relative success. Just my opinion also.

Being able to hit the target on a consistent bases, from distance, is actually an extremely valuable skill to have. Yes it might not be enough for us, but it will be more than enough for a few clubs in the division below.

And that's your opinion, perfectly valid.

Quite like the Colin stuff? Weird, strange. So a derogatory term to call him is OK? Jesus

Agree with you nosmo, the only reason he ‘embraces it’ is because he had no choice really, otherwise the abuse would be worse. Can you imagine what would happen if he said it bothered him? It isn’t mere banter, it is generally done to cause offence amongst the football supporting world. He uses stuff like this to create image and his personal brand of smoke and mirrors. He is a strong affable man, but nobody appreciates personal abuse in reality, nobody.

It isn't really personal abuse, its just an anagram of his name. Hardly a deep-rooted insult. He shrugs it off like anyone in his position should be able to.

Why any Boro fan resorts to calling Warnock Colin is beyond me. Only the truly ignorant would continue with what is disrespectful

I don't think he's especially ar$ed about it so I doubt you should be offended on his behalf. Think he's gone on record saying it doesn't bother him hasn't he? I've always called him it and I'll continue to I'd imagine. Precious much!

Of course it is personal abuse, in a sport that wants to promote support for mental health services, it shouldn’t be encouraged, by calling him Colin everyone knows they are calling him the ‘W‘ word. You and a few of the supporters of the teams he has managed might feel they use it affectionally as bantz, the vast majority of other football fans will not be using it as mere leg pulling. It is just convenient for the bullies and haters to use Colin as it is not classed as an offensive word by itself.

I am sure his wife and children are not amused. Like I said, he has no choice other than to laugh it off, as fans are very inventive and unforgiving. Contrary to popular belief, he will have feelings too. People in the public eye are no different to you and I in a working environment. We all have a work persona and a private persona, sometimes they can be very, very different.

Do you know him, Col? For some reason I have it in my head that you'd met him or knew him.

If it's from the horses mouth that he doesn't like it then I'd stop using it. Frankly though, it's a daft nickname. I've got 'offensive' nicknames between my mates but it doesn't bother me. To be honest I considered Colin more as a term of endearment. He's our Colin now.

No offence intended whatsoever.

Oh well I'm sure you'll get over it. Not everyone feels the same about it. It's not really worth being bothered about surely.
