Wyke, Reach and Jones?!

For me Reach is a YouTube player. If you watched him on there his array of goals with that wonderful left foot of his you would think wow what a player!

The reality is apart from the wonder goals he doesn’t really do much and struggles to hold down a position in a team and gets shuffled allover as he doesn’t have many attributes apart from being a bit of a unit and having a decent shot. Reminds me a bit of Yarmalenko at West Ham.

Wouldn't be annoyed if we signed any of them, but wouldn't push the boat out for any of them either.

Didn’t Bennett jump
At the first opportunity as soon as villa came in for him.

To be fair at the time it was a great fee for him as he wasn’t really setting the world alight at the Boro and we replaced him with Friend for a bargain price. Bennett has went into have a solid career in the game and if he came back at least he comes back a more mature player and under a manager he knows. Of all the ex player names listed he is the only one I would take as we need left back competition.

Reach has played upwards of 200 champo games and 28. I would say on a free that's superb experience znd and a decent addition. He works hard and scores the odd worldie. He's better than we have.

I'm not remotely convinced about Wyke. He's had a good season but everytime I watch him he seems pretty static and hardly mobile.

Then again they are both available on frees. It's hard to be overly critical if they don't cost anything. I do genuinely think Reach would be a better option than say Bolasie. He's younger and not injury prone.

It also depends on the other signings. If we went out and signed a good target man, and a good winger, with both of them being the ‘star signings of the summer’ and they were going to play in a front 3 alongside Watmore.

And then we brought in Wyke to replace Fletcher and Reach came in as a squad player who wasn’t 1st choice on the wing and could also provide back up at left back should Bola get injured then I wouldn’t complain.

I’d love to see us go out and sign 3/4 top championship players but that’s not going to happen, however 1 or 2 top championship players with a few ‘solid’ signings for free or cheap would be realistic and I’d settle for that.

1 good Keeper
1 good striker
1 good winger

1 solid winger
1 solid striker (if Fletcher leaves) could be all we need.

+ a creative type who could play midfield or wing would be great.

That’s based on only the loan and those out of contract leaving. Of course more would be lovely.

Charlie is like a Boro version of Kris Boyd, a left hand side of Adam Reach and Bola would be decent for me and I might be in the minority but I think Jordan Jones is the type of player that Warnock could get a tune out of.

I always look at these links and think would be as still keen if there was no link to the club as in what will the player bring to us.

Normally I am not one for resigning players . But needs must. Wyke and Reach, to me would improve us in the goal scoring area. Jones? Mmmmm, a lot of resentment against him for past misdemeanours. Is he a better option than the wide options?
Probably very debatable.
Definitely. Could never understand why we sold Reach. I get we went up but that lad think his name was Fischer? What did he bring to the table that Reach didnt. Exactly what we need. Better than Marvin Johnson imho although i like Johnsons tenacity, Reach can cross and scores a few. Would be genuinely excited by Wyke. Think he got a couple of cameos under Mowbray. Again why did we sell?

Reach - he'd lost his place in the second half of the season 2014-15 to Bamford, we then signed Stuani and Downing that closed season and Wednesday offered £7M so it was a no brainer.

Wyke - never got anywhere near the first team. Has not been prolific until this season. You can hardly say why did we let him go 6 years ago and then it take 5 seasons before he looks like someone who might be useful in our team. He wouldn't have played for us and has probably needed those seasons at Carlisle, Bradford and two at Sunderland before getting this level of experience and confidence.

Disagree. Reach was / is a good player. Would suggest he wpuld have offered more than Downing did second time round had we kept him. I get Wyke wasnt in the first time but, club have been a bit short sighted with letting certain players go imho. Wyke, Graham, Reach for example

I don't think it would have been fair to keep Charlie sat about watching from the wings and I don't think he would have been happy to do it. He had to move on to learn his trade and I am sure he is a better player for the bumps and bruises he's taken along the way. He's played under some decent managers who had decent football careers and he must have learnt a thing or two from them and their coaching staff.

Whilst at the Boro he had a lot of injuries that have continued throughout his career. He was out a long time after first signing for Sunderland from Bradford with a knee injury that he picked up in his first game. Change of managers didn't help and the system they played didn't suit his style. Lee definitely believes in him and Sunderland are reaping the rewards for it - 27 in all comps isn't bad.

We sold reach for way above his market value at the time, was it about 5-7mill. He was probably worth about 2.5 when we sold him. We got a good deal, he was a squad player at the time, it was the right move for everyone. Despite his long range highlights real, he never ever had bigger clubs, prem clubs, scrambling to sign him. Deep down we all know that that's because he is absolutely average

Yet we’re all saying he’d be a good addition to the squad? Would suggest that a squad with players such as Reach and others of his ilk would have depth and quality that we havent had for years. The Forshaw’s, Nugent’s, not players that broke the bank. Just shortsighted from the club. We got 5 million for him. Ok, with Gestede, Britt, Johnson, the Pulis garbage, the five million profit on Reach has turned into lasting defecit by investing in dross
