Wycombe considering legal action

What a fuqing mess of the leagues and Derby's creation........

An independent investigation needs to be carried out to identify failings in the last three or four seasons proceedings and make recommendations on new FFP discipline systems that must act by the seasons end.

Feel sorry for their fans- we all know on here what it feels like. But Mel Morris is soley to blame - no one else.
I really hope Wycombe sue the EFL and Derby.
I am still perplexed as how Wycombe were allowed to be relegated when the EFl knew full well what Derby had done.

As much as I know it's the fans who suffer as we know only too well , but the football authorities need to absolutely shake Derby to bits as a lesson of 'dont even think about it ' .
Gloves off and make a lesson to all .

Where does it end though? MM could take action against the EFL in a personal capacity given how much money he has lost. Others could take action as they lost out in the playoffs etc, plus what about those clubs that absolutely smashed the rules but managed to get promotion?

It's an absolute mess, but I do have some sympathy for the EFL as they had to fulfil the fixture requirements for the new season. The problem came about by Derby fighting the charges and thereby forcing the delay of the punishment into this season.
Had Derby accepted the punishment and not appealed then Wycombe would not need to be pursuing legal action.
With that in mind, I'd make Derby compensate Wycombe as a further deterrent to other clubs thinking they can wrangle their way out of being docked points or relegated at the expense of other clubs.

Like the Sheff Utd West Ham outcome?

Sounds a neat solution however with Derby in administration and seemingly facing a very real threat of liquidation then not sure this would be possible. They haven’t got any assets to dispose of - unlike Wigan who managed to sell one of their training grounds to Preston for £1.5m and raise £10m in the transfer market, which is now shut - as they don’t own the ground, training ground or anything else of value.

Rooney is supposedly paying for away game transport and accommodation out of his own pocket. They owe Cocu and team £5m, HMRC £26m and god knows what else - Keogh £2m? Footballing debts have to be paid in full, they‘ve got to pay £1m or so in wages shortly.

Who knows what the outcome will be….

And this doesn't excuse it one iota, but if there wasn't such a ludicrous gap between the obscene money in the PL compared to the rest of the league, owners wouldn't be tempted to bet the farm gambling on promotion.

Wasn’t a senior member of the EFL a member of the derby board.

Yep joined in 2019

Ahead of the start of season 2021/22 the EFL is seeking three new Directors to represent Championship Clubs on the EFL Board following the resignation of Nigel Howe (Reading) and Stephen Pearce (Derby County) alongside Mark Ashton (previously at Bristol City and now with Ipswich Town).
