Wrexham v Southampton

When the going gets tough and a game is tight and a fight for control or a battling draw is required then Azaz goes missing in action, he’s not who you want on the pitch
That’s why fans turn on him.
but he would of been brilliant against a low block or the bottom of the league teams we were trying to beat. A flat track bully at home against Charlton and Oxford would of been very useful but he did not want to be here so fck him!

Bit worried that Saints will be in full rest mode come that Ipswich rearranged game.

They will already be putting everything into that Semi-Final game against City, 3 days before....it'll be even worse for us if they can fully rotate against Ipswich knowing they have top 6 wrapped up and can't get 2nd.....which at the moment is probably the most likely scenario

If Ipswich lost on Saturday and Southampton win, they’ll be in striking distance by the time they play each other. They’re not going to take that game lightly if that happens

It doesn't mean much but it will give us a bit of confidence that we can beat them.

They are clearly a different animal right now but still should give us some confidence, we didn't just beat them at the riverside we absolutely smashed them 4-0 with an brilliant second half performance.

didn't we do the double over Norwich in the season they beat us in the Play Offs.

Southampton are completely different team to the one we beat. You could argue so are we.

They have underachieved most of the season and it looks to have clicked. They remind me of Coventry in that they have 3/4 proper goal scorers so without playing well they can blow you away. Last night was even for large spells and it finished 5-1.

Lets see what the next few games bring but they have a fairly decent fixture list with mainly home games. Could the FA Cup prove a stumbling block. Who knows.

Getting more and more tense.

We must beat Portsmouth

Yeah, in reality it doesn't mean much but I'd be even less confident if they turned us over twice this season. But they never, we took 4 points so we can take some confidence from that.

Fingers crossed we don't need it and we manage top 2 😂🤞

Our record this season against Southampton that some are quoting means nothing. New manager settled in now who knows what he is doing and they are on a roll playing brilliant football. We have stuttered badly and suspect confidence is low at the moment. Momentum can change though and a couple of wins for us next two games could make a huge difference but at the moment I think we are under dogs for promotion
It’s almost like they’ve forgotten Norwich under Karanka.

I never understood the criticism even at the time, but I think it's shown up a lot of the sneering towards him "only scoring against lower, poor teams" when he was here and after he left that a lot of people liked to say on here, looking at the list of teams we've failed to beat over the last 10 games.

I remember those games. When Hackney and Morris couldn't cope with the opposition tactics and we had nobody to strengthen the midfield, we blamed a forward because he wasn't physical enough?

I seem to recall Whittaker copping for the most and fans asking for a bit more from the likes of Azaz because we were being bullied by a few teams

I watched the game last night and although Wrexham were awful. Their defending was rank bad, seriously bad, however, they missed a glorious chance to make it 2-2....if that goes in, then the whole game changes.

Southampton are clearly on a fantastic run and are full of confidence, but they're not this super machine that is unbeatable. They have their frailties...the same frailties we exposed with ease in that home fixture we had against them. Yes we rode our luck, in that first half, but that second half, as soon as the first goal went in, we ripped them to shreds.

There's no reason why we couldn't do it again.

I don't believe Saint's will get 2nd...they may finish 4th and jump Millwall, but I can't see them going 6/6 wins to clinch 2nd on 84pts.

The schedule should be too tough for them.

Remember we beat Norwich twice before that fateful afternoon at Wembley

It would have to be end up as 10 wins out of 10, which would equal the Championship consecutive win record, whilst also still hoping that Ipswich drop 9 points, Middlesbrough drop 3+ and Millwall drop 3.

Obviously the teams above them would have to drop even more points for every point Southampton drop too, and Hull would have to be included if they did.

Seems very unlikely.

Bite your hand off for a playoff v Millwall/hull
If it ends up with us facing a toss up between finishing 3rd or 4th, I can't see Hellberg "doing a Karanka" and grinding out a 0-0 bore draw in the final game so we finish 4th and get Hull in the playoffs instead of Saints, can you?

Although tbf there's a good chance Southampton finish above Hull anyway.
