Would you offer Marvin a new deal

Would you like to us keep Marvin Johnson

Why would Johnson be behind someone from Doncaster Rovers? Johnson has 4 goals and 4 assists, James 7 goals and 2 assists(according to WhoScored). James might have got 3 more goals but he is playing in the division below and has started twice as many games, playing over 1,400 more minutes than Johnson this season.
because they can actually defend?

I like my wingers to attack.
If we are wanting to keep Johnson as a winger (not wingback), well I'd prefer to sacrifice him and offer more in wages to get Bolaise. Johnson had 2 1/2 times more playing time than Bolaise yet has the same goals and only 1 more assist.

Bolasie as first choice, Marcus Browne 2 goals and an assist in just 138 mins as backup to him. Not sure where Johnson would fit in after that

Can’t argue with that.

Corey Blackett-Taylor has managed 8 starts for Tranmere. 3 goals and 1 assist in League Two.

I don't know an awful lot about either of these two players but I don't really see how they would be an upgrade on Marvin Johnson?
In reply Viv , James is similar but 3 year younger and on a lower salary
CBT is similar also but only 23 year old and has the potential to be better than Bola . Low wages.
CBT can also play in a few other positions so is a squad player . He tortured SAFC at Wembley down the left flank , pure pace and power .
Both suggestions are as back up to Bola , he has the shirt ATM

An absolute yes from me👍

He's more than done enough for another year (maybe add an option for a another).

I think he's really kicked on under Warnock. The fact he can play in a couple of positions helps. I think he's the best crosser of the ball at the club and he doesn't get injured or moan when out of the team.

I'm pretty suprised he's not signed before Xmas when all those contacts were flying about. He was on a 'Monk' contract so may have to take a paycut and also may get a longer deal somewhere else.

It's a no from me. Marvin appears a brainless player and has some real shockers.
If we can't do better, then Warnock certainly isn't the manager I hope he is.

I worry about Marvin. He is too slow to be a winger, he gives too many free kicks away in dangerous places as a wingback. Were he to re-sign it would be on the basis of being on the bench for the majority of the season, surely?

I am not sure we want that never mind Marvin himself. He is a goo decent crosser of the ball and can score occasional goals, but i don't think he offers enough in a warnock team that is aiming for top 2, play-offs at worst, even if it is as a bench sitter.

The main issue, as it is for any player, is can we get better. If we can we must, but Marvin will be seeking a longer contract than another year i'd think and he might get that elsewhere

I would sign him again as a squad player because:

he can play any where down the left
he can cross the ball
he can score
he will be cheapish for Championship (£8k/week?)
he is settled in
he knows the championship
always shows a positive attitude

OK he is not super quick and he has weaknesses as a defender - hence hes bought more as cover/bench - Sheff United used him as this when they were promoted in 2019.
