No. He would be behind these for me
Reece James - free from Donny, 7 goals 3 assists , ex MUFC age 27
Corey Blackett Taylor - free from Tranmere , a beast , ex Villa , age 23
Coulson - keep as cover for Bola.
That's just silly. What makes you think we could get either of those two?

Anyone who thinks we can bring in a better squad player this summer is in for a surprise

Why?

I'm more than happy for him to stay, but he was an average League One player when we signed him, even with this season, he's never lived up to his price tag.
That's through absolutely no fault of his own, but 7 goals and 14 assists in 102 appearances is far from irreplaceable.
I'd be surprised if that was even reaching the average for a winger in the Championship.

Free is not really free though when you take wages and fees into account.
obviously and with so many players available it's the clubs that have the power this time, and with everyones budget hit by covid it'll drag wages down.

On top of that within about 7 weeks our wage will have halved as players leave, and will be about a 1/3rd of what they were after prem relegation and Monks splurge. There is plenty of scope on our wages now. I'd guess McNair and Saville are the new highest earners and probably earn less than Britt did between them.

They are out of contract so on free transfers , and from lower leagues so wages are lower. Competition for Bola , but good enough to be a serious challengers for the shirt.
Nothing silly there IMO
Signing a player puts a question on Coulson . I think there is a player there , so maybe , Warnocks comment , some go away as boys , and come back as men comes in.
Beef up , come back strong would by my advice to Coulson .
I.e. Look at his physique to Bolas ?
Get on the Steak and weights and boost your physical confidence .
Become a Milner , Bowen in attack , and a Keirney , Shaw , in defence .

Competition from other clubs......

I know our wages will be significantly less than they have been for years but i think the club will try and keep the wage bill down. So players leaving wont leave a bag of money available to use on new ones. Johnson has improved massively since he signed but is an impact player. Doesnt seem to influence games as mich from the start as he does from the bench. Id keep him. We know what we’re getting and saves a headache of replacing him when theres likely to massive changes throughout the team where we need better

I think his performances would suggest he'll be offered a contract. Whether that contract is better, or equal, to what he may be offered elsewhere remains to be seen.

I wouldn't have thought his current contract is that big; he signed from a lower league and only re-signed a 12 month contract last summer. I think his package will be pretty modest.

It’s a yes for me. I’m reckon if he’d played the same number of games in the second half of the season as Bolassie and Kebano he’d have scored and assisted more than both of them over the same time period.

Why would Johnson be behind someone from Doncaster Rovers? Johnson has 4 goals and 4 assists, James 7 goals and 2 assists(according to WhoScored). James might have got 3 more goals but he is playing in the division below and has started twice as many games, playing over 1,400 more minutes than Johnson this season.

Corey Blackett-Taylor has managed 8 starts for Tranmere. 3 goals and 1 assist in League Two.

I don't know an awful lot about either of these two players but I don't really see how they would be an upgrade on Marvin Johnson?

I would keep Johnson for at least another season. His record for us this season was better than Mendez-Laing's for Cardiff last season. I know they play on opposite flanks but Warnock seemed to make a real fuss of Mendez-Laing, who was nowhere near fit and has offered very little generally. I think Johnson has been a bit hard done by this season but has answered any questions in the right way, on the field and by trying to create things for the team. I think he has had a good season and could be better if we had any decent strikers for him to pass the ball to.

If he chooses to move on I wouldn't blame him. He didn't deserve to be shunted down the pecking order to sit behind unfit players who didn't contribute as much as him.
