Would you fight for Israel/Ukraine?

As one of the likely younger members of this forum - I would genuinely rather serve crack than serve my country in the current state it is, and I would have to be dragged onto the frontline to fight, and I especially wouldn’t serve my country alongside Israel.

Would never serve alongside a country that has committed literal genocide against the Palestinians

No I'm not suggesting that we support Israel, I support Palestine, BUT if some people get their way, we could well have troops on the ground at some point.
 
No I wouldn’t go to war for “King and country” unless I had literally no choice. Also, there’s a huge difference between saying you would on the internet and actually doing it (and I know some on here have served in the forces etc).
 
I would like to think we live in more enlightened times where people know better than to be just used as cannon fodder in a game of political chess.
 
The Welsh would fight for Wales, the Scots would fight for Scotland, The Irish would fight for Ireland, The English would have to think about it.
 
British Troops were sent to Russia in 1918-19 to fight "Red" Russians to try and destroy Communist Russia, close to its birth.

Not sure any refused to go.

My grandad complained in his book about being sent to Russia, but he felt it was unfair that experienced troops after 2 years in the treenches wewre been sent. He thought it should be the new young troops sent. It didn't make any comments about Britain's involvement, by guess is he would have gone if asked and fit (He was recovering from a very bad leg wound in late 1918 and 1919). He was desperate to get at the Germans I can tell from his writings and had tried volunteering when underrage and under height.
 
Would I fight to defend this country? Of course… I live here and I will defend my family.

Would I fight to defend another county? Not a fcuking chance… they have their own citizens for that.
 
I would in order to defend the freedoms our past generations fought for so we’d have relative peace. Fighting isn’t an option I’d choose, but if needs must, sometimes though you need to do it far from home so the wolf doesn’t get to your doorstep, because if they do get that far, vienna has already said goodbye.

We as a public must accept that we need to pay more in tax and the defence budget built up to deter an aggressor wherever they may be.
 
I'd fight to defend the country if under attack, I absolutely would not fight to fight for Ukraine or Israel, who the British government seem to not only be supporting, but actually giving them arms.
 
I’m still not sure I truly understand that ( hypothetically ) each nato country paid the same percentage then why do we need a massive increase . Isn’t the whole idea that collectively no one will f”ck with us ?

If our role is to defend non nato countries then surely there is still more than sufficient power there between the big boys . We have to be as one though .

I know I’m literally missing an important point here ( probably trumps decision to kinda rip it up)
 
As I get older I realise that war is a vital tool to make rich people money and keep poor people on their toes.
That said, I’ve been into battle theatre for my country and under the right circumstances I’d do it again.
I thought about going to Ukraine to defend against the unlawful and unwarranted invasion but decided as a middle aged father I wouldn’t do it.
Not great to see the Americans in bed with ruskies
