The polling is now consistent in favour of independence.

It’s looking more and more inevitable that Scotland is going on a different political path to the rest of the UK (England specifically).

Every county in Scotland voted to remain, they overwhelmingly vote SNP yet are stuck under Tory rule thanks to England.

If they were to get Independence, would you consider moving there?

Hopefully and Scotland would become members of the EU. I'd be able to get a Scottish passport through my grandmother (which I'd certainly do) and if as a result Scotland became a more open, cosmopolitan place without the people whose frankly racist views have been legitimized by the large swing to the right, then I'd be right there.

The Scottish people have the right to determine their own future. [And also Northern Ireland and Wales].
If they chose to leave the Union of the [dis]United Kingdom then that is their decision.

There is an interesting article about Scottish Independence this morning, here:
https://www.thecanary.co/uk/news/20...dependence-reaches-record-high-of-55-in-new-p

55% Yes will send shockwaves throughout the political world. There is no conclusion to draw from this new data other than the writing is very definitely on the wall for the union. https://t.co/AzVCrKJLcS pic.twitter.com/N57rVeM3nO
SNP depute leader Keith Brown said support for independence is “soaring”.

With the prime minister repeatedly ruling out having a second independence ballot, Brown said: “Boris Johnson’s attempts to deny the right of the people to decide their own future is now utterly unsustainable.

“It’s no surprise that momentum towards independence continues to build in the face of utter contempt shown to Scotland by the Westminster government.

“The people of Scotland deserve so much better and by taking our future into our own hands we can build that better Scotland.”

The National Scot - newspaper also leads:

THE vast majority of younger voters support Scottish independence, The National can reveal.

Today's Panelbase poll, commissioned by Business for Scotland, put the Yes vote on 55%. Now, the group's CEO Gordon MacIntyre-Kemp, writing exclusively for The National Extra, has revealed that among voters under-35 that support is at a "massive 72%".

The next age group, from 35-54 years old, also has a large majority in the pro-independence camp, with 59% of those voters supporting Yes.

A citical part of this debate also relates to The Senedd - The Welsh Assembly, has devolved powers and increasing power to make its own laws with an independent legislature.

The sovereignty and independence of Northern Ireland has been firmly placed on the table since the "Good Friday Agreement" - a natural political evolution, with the "province" moving away from direct rule by Westminster. The issue of devolved power is different to Scotland and Wales, but with England leaving the customs union and the European Common Market, the economic needs of Northern Ireland increasingly alignes the economic benefits of strengthened relations with the Republic of Eire.

Irregardless of details, the people of Ireland, Wales and Scotland have the right to self - determination. Direct rule by the incumbents in Westminster is rapidly hitting the buffers - though how long it takes and its form will depend on the momentum and leadership for change in those countries.

It would be very, very interesting to see the campaign messages for pro unionists in another referendum.

There is absolutely no way that they can spout "careful what you wish for" and "the idea is much nicer than the reality" without contradicting themselves on you-know-what.

I would consider a move north, love the country and many aspects of the SNP domestic agenda seem good. However, what would the prospects for my kids be if London handed them a whacking big national debt to start off with, impacting the public spending programmes?

I also think that the Yes side are often blinded by the idea of sunlit uplands, without fully recognising the enormous moneypits which social issues in the cities cause.

Its ok for us English to "wonder" about an Independent Ireland, Scotland and Wales when Westminster and this "Brexit" mess is in so much turmoil. Lets sort out our own mess before we start to dictate others future - harking back to the days of Imperial power......

Some interesting stuff there - nice one
The ‘economic bet’ is a hefty bill from London v support from EU.
I’d just put in the discussion that the new ‘economic’ reality is going to be very different from what we are used to.
Heavy debt which is fine whilst interest rates are low

The UK voted for Brexit. That's democracy.

Well observed:
Scotland voted unanimously to Remain in the European Union:

Scotland referendum results (without spoiled ballots):
Leave:1,018,322(38%) Remain: 1,661,191(62%)

Scotland is also a country - with its own political institutions with devolved powers.
Westminster cannot trample over Scotland - when its people want independence and Union with Europe.

Like the U.K. shooting themselves in the foot with brexit

Scotland will do the same when they leave the U.K.
That's democracy. It would be interesting to see why, since the last SI referendum in 2014 (55% AGAINST 45% FOR) there has been a shift in opinion.

They didn't like the democratic outcome?

Scotland would be just a bit too far to travel down for home games, and would rule out going to away games really.
