Would a poor result against Rotherham

Leave Gibson with a very big decision to make going into the international break. International breaks are notorious for managers losing their jobs as it gives the chance for a new manager to get to work with his players and bed in. Can’t believe I’m even creating this thread but it’s mad how a few poor results can make you feel.

We really need to beat the millers.

I don't think so, purely because we could, maybe should, have had another 6 or 7 points on the board. A few sticky results after the international break and I don't think that excuse will wash though.

I don't think a change of manager rids us of the individual errors that cost us goals last night. A new manager doesn't suddenly mean Isiah jones/ Paddy Mcnair would track his runner for the first goal or Howson takes one of the 3 opportunities he has to get rid or Mowatt doesn't move out of the way of their lad running into the box to give him a free shot.

We`ll beat Rotherham, Gibson has nothing to decide

and if we don`t beat Rotherham he still won`t sack him, I think he`s got the season or at least until maths comes in to it either top or bottom

Boro the only religion I have faith in

Suppose it'll depend on a lot of stuff that we fans won't be aware of.

What's the atmosphere like behind the scenes, what vibe is he getting from Wilder. Is there any real tension between Wilder and the recruitment team? Did Wilder really want to speak to Burnley - how committed is he to a long term project?

Results/performances are only one (admittedly an important one) part of the equation.

I think if everything else bar the on pitch stuff feels right, Gibson will be patient and rightly so at this point.

If there's tension behind the scenes it makes his position more tenuous obviously.

Football isn’t about could or should though it’s about results. Until they change the pressure is going to mount unfortunately. I hope and want him him to turn it around but am becoming concerned now. Last night has left me shell shocked to be honest

Is that the case though, in regards to individual errors? I seem to recall a similar debate when Mowbray left for Karanka. Obviously Karanka played more defensively but the individual errors also almost stopped over night.

In the most simple form yes, but you have to consider the bigger picture when contemplating such drastic action as changing manager.
I agree but if you factor in what Wilder his saying in interviews at the moment something seems off. I have been his biggest supporter and hope he turns it round starting with a win on Saturday night. If not then, well anything could happen in my opinion.

You can get an instant improvement if players don't like the current manager. Wilder can't make them work harder on the pitch but if they want him gone (not suggesting that is the case) then they know the best way to do it is for the manager to "lose the dressing room". Players have loads of power and no responsibility. When a new manager comes in they can start trying hard again and you can see an instant improvement.

Basically, do you think we are under or overperforming? If you were a Birmingham/Cardiff fan and you are sitting midtable then you'd be thinking the manager is getting what is expected out of their team so a change of manager won't make much difference. If you are a Norwich fan sitting midtable then you'd think the team is underperforming and a manager change would see an improvement.

We're expecting to be promotion candidates so our position is massively underperforming so a change of manager could see a big up-tick in results (like we had last year). That can all come down to the motivation of the players to play for the manager. If results continue then it gets much harder for Wilder to justify our league position because even if we did miss out on some signings our lowest position this year should be about 12th which at the moment is getting away from us.

I don't think the fans are near turning yet but I guess it depends on the circumstances. If we are 3-0 down at HT then it isn't going to be nice.

It wouldn't shock me, but I really don't want us to sack Wilder unless it's absolutely essential to our survival.

He should have gone last night, our form is relegation worthy at the minute and the players don’t seem to playing for him.

He was let down in the transfer window, we are so short now until January and even then would you trust the club to get it right? I wouldn’t be shocked if he left

I don’t think we should be even thinking about sacking another manager for at least this season though. The club needs some stability or nothing will ever change

Changing the manager is the last thing we need. I read in the echo that the tactics aren’t to blame and I see that point so hopefully we have options to change the personnel
