Worst Ever Boro 11 - We have our team!

Alan wright, we make an exception to the 5 game rule for this gadge. The single worst individual performance I’ve ever seen, I was half cut, block 17 looking down the line, his performance still stands out on its own

I wouldn't argue with that on the basis of that performance; however, it was against Arsenal in their pomp if I remember rightly. Lots of defenders would have looked bad against that team.

And I did rate the guy before he joined us. Scored one of the most memorable goals by a visitor to the Riverside.

Am sure I can remember Keith O'Halloran playing left back for us once and he was terrible. Might have been under Robbo at Ayresome.

Seem to recall he played RB against Derby and was absolutely tortured by McMinn and Gabbiadini. We were 3-0 down at HT and he got subbed?? Finished 4-2 if my memory is correct (which more often than not isn't!). 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Yes that's it. He was a midfielder by trade so will let him off.

One of the worst left back performances I saw was in the early 80's by a player who took us on a fantastic journey, Tony Mowbray. He was a kid thrown into a desperate side playing out of position.

I'm sure Whelan was a centre back. Can't remember him ever playing left back but could be wrong.
He was LB at Ipswich and signed as a LB and played games at Pb, we converted to CB because he was tall? He was still rubbish there

Again I don't think Whyte played left back in the prem for us. Left sided centre back in a back 3 I think (Wilder would've loved him). Was decent in the first season up.

Our memories of that time don't seem to align 😂. Possible one of us has somehow fallen into a parallel universe without realising it......🤔
Can’t remember what period he played LB but he was poor there and played a sizeable number of games there.

Alan Wright (i think that was his name)
I remember him being about 4ft tall and the ball being launched over his head repeatedly every game
