World cup tickets on sale at 4pm

A 66 World Cup Ticket at Ayresome Park standing in the Clive road corner, next to the newly roofed and seated East Stand was 7 Shilling and sixpence, I think it works out 37.5 pence today. Average wage was around £20 a week.

Interesting. An eighth final. In modern language you would assume that was the round of 16 game. But there wasn’t one in 66. They were only 16 teams in the entire tournament. So it must’ve been the name for the group phase.

Boston have announced that whilst the trains from the city centre to the Stadium in Foxborough (about an hour away) usually cost $17.50 return, for all FIFA world cup matches they will be $80 instead!

Once again we are getting fleeced. From the BBC website;

"But ticketed fans who may think driving is a better option may decide against that with one parking space at Boston Stadium starting at $175 (£132)."

And

"The MBTA added that no direct subway or MBTA bus services to Boston Stadium will be available."

So, not only do they put the prices up, but they make it impossible to get there by any other method.

The train tickets are on sale now, non refundable, and are limited. So cant even buy on the day. Touts will probably buy them and sell them for twice the price.

I'm in Boston for match 74, second round game. Even if i picked up a ticket closer to the time, I may not be able to get there.

Looks like another day of sightseeing for me.

Google AI - For the FIFA World Cup 2026, transportation policies differ by host city, and unlike the 2022 tournament in Qatar, universal free transport for match ticket holders has not been broadly implemented across all 16 locations.

When they submitted the bid, a final ticket price was £1,200. It's now over £10k with Fifa's permission. I agree, many cities will have free matchday transport for those with tickets, but many won't. Boston, New York and Dallas have already said they won't.

Yes, I know.

But when you've already booked flights and accommodation, what can you do? They are taking advantage of loyal supporters. This will be my last World Cup, this one has left a sour taste in my mouth.
The next World Cup is in Spain Morocco and Portugal. I will go to that tournament. I knew this one would be a huge financial rip off. US ticket culture and legalised scalping is rife. That coupled with huge distances between games - it wont feel like a celebration of football.

Even if I had more money than I could possibly spend - I have zero interest giving it to the US & FIFA - I'd not be going. I will watch it on TV & that is it, i'm so unenthusiastic about it - indeed feel even more strongly than when it was is Russia & Qatar.. due to the Trump regime & atrocities..

For some reason US consumers are willing to pay these insane prices. As a result it is a touts paradise to snap up as many tickets as possible and flog them at vastly inflated prices. The same is and will happen for the Los Angeles Olympics where tickets are going on sale today, The price of tickets for the popular sports is eye watering and way beyond the afford of most overseas fans.
