What a game to end the tournament which is the baseball equivalent of the World Cup.

With Japan narrowly beating the USA in a thrilling 9th inning finish.

I saw this was going on, mainly on tiktok with Yanks glaoting that they have beaten us in a tournament that 99% of the country was unaware was happening. Whch amsued me somewhat.

Who was on team US? if it was MLB stars surely it's not great losing to Japan? Imagine being second in a sport that only you take seriously?

I'm not an MLB expert but I believe the US put out a strong team, with names like Mike Trout, Mookie Betts and Pete Alonso.

And they might've finished second this year, but the US are actually 3rd in the WBSC world rankings!

Another Baseball Fan here. Been an avid supporter of The Astros since I first saw them live in 2011.

A lot of the best MLB players arent american so no surprise they didnt win it.

Lots of countries take baseball seriously - it's the national sport of Japan for example.

The MLB is stuffed with players from Asia, Caribbean, South and Central America, Canada as well as the US. It's a really cosmopolitan league. I guess it'll rancor with the US players that they didn't win it though, and I'd expect that they'll be strong next time. I'm not sure the American public takes it seriously though, it's next week that the baseball season starts for real.

It's very much a minority sport in the world. and has a world series that consists of teams fro only 2 countries.

So it's interesting that neither of those countries could win a tournament.
