Woodgate

I said this last week. He seems very involved and always in Carricks ear.

He's actually now got plenty of experience as a gaffer to be a very good No2. I imagine it was 'hard' to go back yet I'm sure woody would have said 'yes' in a heartbeat.

I'm suprised we've not had one club interview with him. Infact I've not even read any written press about how it came about. I'd love to here from him about who approached him etc.

I presumed in the early weeks it was to let Carrick have the exposure. Yet I'd love Boro to do an interview with him on the official website. That or the gazette.

I'm glad he's back and probably enjoying the way things are going. I'm not sure he's even an official No2? It was reporting in the early days that Carrick wanted to bring in another couple of staff. That seems to have gone quiet.

Woodgate never seemed the best fit for the main leadership role. He’s much better in the background where he can still be influential. That’s not a criticism. Some people are better suited to different roles.

The tactical changes at half time at Blackburn as well. It showed Woody chatting to Carrick before half time and when interviewed after the game Carrick said that he couldnt take all the credit for the tactical changes.

Crooks reckons it was Woody who came up with the idea to play him as a 9.
Yup... Just watched the Crooks Post match interview.

He said it was woody who came up with the idea about Crooksy up top whilst he was out injured.

Ties in well with the Woodgate thread

What, so the resident idiots on here can pull apart everything he says and how he says it (especially after a few losses - should they happen ;))? Nah, leave him in the background doing what appears to be a brilliant job. Takes a strong man to come back to a club that sacked him, his hometown club at that, and in a lesser role.

At the beginning of the season I opined that If I was in his position, I would imagine it'd be fairly bruising for him to come back to the place where he ultimately failed...and taking a step down from that previous position to boot, and in his mind he'd have unfinished business.

I'm really pleased for the lad that this all appears to be working out...for himself and the club. He has got it in him... of that I'm sure...two Manager of the Month awards is surely proof

Was fine with him being on the coaching staff, I just wanted a more experienced assistant.

Doesn't seem to have been a problem so far though, and I'm happy to see it.

Never had a problem with him, just the results we got under him.

I thought he was good as a pundit on R5Live commentaries... wasn't expecting him to be but he put his points across well

I didn't mind Woody as part of the backroom staff but that's far as it goes for me.

He knows the club inside and out there's no denying that so helping Carrick settle in and settle in quickly seems to be paying off results wise so long may it continue.

Let's be honest none of us thought Carrick & Woodgate would be as successful as its been so far.
Most of us, including myself wanted an experienced No2 alongside a rookie manager, but I hold my hands up, its working brilliant, the club, the players, the staff and the fans are all buying into it... the turn around from when he took over with Woodgate has been amazing. UTB

I doubt even Carrick and Woodgate truely believed the results would turn around as spectacularly this quickly
