Woodgate not sacked - rumours

There seems to be a rumour gathering pace that Woodgate has been sacked. I’m not pretending to be in the know one way or another, I’m not.

However I really hope it’s true because we are that team that plummets towards relegation. We need to protect the club and retain our Championship status even if that’s at the expense of Woodgate’career in the short term.

The rot simply has to stop and while we’re a dreadfully imbalanced squad we’ve more than enough to stay up with a decent manager.

Seems to be on a few other forums, some say pay off being sorted out, we will see, however won't surprise me if he is in the dugout for Leeds...

I feel for Woody, I really do, it will turn out to be just that, a rumour
He does need help, Keane is no help at all, IMHO mind

Erimus I do feel for Woody too, he’s been thrown under a bus from day 1 IMHO.

When it looked like we’d turned things around and had that great little run I really hoped that would be the foundation for him to improve and learn.

Sadly it hasn’t happened. I feel for him I really do, but number one priority is MFC. To that end as sad as it is, Gibson needs to be both decisive in culling Woodgate and also wise in appointing his successor.

a couple of years ago I’d have been horrified at the though of Neil Warnock coming in and yet tonight it would delight me as I’m certain he would keep us up comfortably.

He’s been thrown under a bus bull**** is pathetic. He’s not expected to finish first , he only has to show some form of management ability.
He only picks his best side when some of the other dross is injured . Winning 4 in a row was pure luck or aleast the team selection was due to injuries

Sorry weegord, I don't mean to patronise anyone, I don't think anyone thinks bad of him, he's the manager of our football club & struggling big time, no one will feel as bad as the manager himself
I wanted Warnock before Monk, it never happened & we have wasted those years & money since

Erimus you didn’t patronise at all, never even crossed my mind. I know you’re a massive MFC fan and over the years have been as big a supporter of the club as anyone ever has been.

Your opinion is absolutely valued and welcomed, and it’s without doubt we all have the interests of MFC at heart.

As much as I would like this rumour to be true, I just can’t see it. I don’t think Gibson will act, even if we do go down.

And, even if it does turn out to be true, I have no faith that we would make a good appointment to replace him.

back woody and we will come through it

He has been backed and things have gone from bad to worse.
We've not kept a clean sheet or won a game in nearly 2 months, and we're almost guaranteed to have our worst league finish in 30 years, even if by some miracle we stay up.

Back Woody? For how long? To the end of the season? What do we have to lose?
I know he's a local lad, ex-player blah blah blah. Sometimes you just have to admit that he's a rookie who's learning on the job. This will take time - not just this season. If we drop down (which I don't think we will) then it's not the end of the world.
Like many older posters I've seen much darker days than this. Keep the faith.
