Woodgate, can anyone confirm

So, we don’t know?

To be honest, last public announcement as far as I'm aware was he was relieved of manager duties, the club said they wanted him to continue at the club in some capacity as they felt he had a lot to offer. However, they felt he needed a break away from the club to come to terms with losing the top job, then there would be discussions about his role further down the line.

I'm guessing its something that has been on hold until the end of the season and will be sorted soon.

To echo the above, I agree a top Boro fan who I wish all the best to in the future. I think perhaps working with younger players might be his niche.

Would he want to saty at the club though, if so maybe a role with the academy, similar position he had when he started out at the Boro after his playing career finished

It’s a bit of a come down though isn’t it, getting your dream job and then getting sacked before the season is out and then going back to work for the academy. I can’t see a future in management for him. He was so bad

I don't believe he has what it takes to manage at any level to be honest. Football management is about so much more than simply 'knowing a bit about the game'.

He was completely out of his depth in the management hotseast. Think he just needs to stick to coaching now if he wants to stay in football.

it wasnt his fault he was given the job. Clearly he was pressed into applying with a nod he would get it. The management who gave him the job are to blame so possibly feel obligated in keeping his contract on in a much reduced role.... he possibly will be happy at that as he must relise he was out his depth... promoted to a level of incompatence

I don’t get this animosity against Woody. He was offered the job, took it but it didn’t work out. Gibbo threw him under the bus. Woody cared, deeply and was proud to be the manager. This small time mentality of being sarcastic and insulting to him is sad to see.
A local lad who tried his best and couldn’t make it happen. About time a few got off his case. The Teesside Green Eyed Monster syndrome alive and well.....

I think it's a difficult one and it comes down to how stubborn he is and obviously his personal pride may come into it too.

I would think the chance to work for the club you love, doing a job you love doesn't come around very often and so personally I think he'd be mad to turn it down.

Also senior figures at the club thought so highly of the job he'd been doing that they in effect gave him several promotions in one leap. Therefore it's something they believe he has got ability at, but possibly more on a coaching level than management as it turned out.

Working with youngsters is more about coaching than management as results are largely secondary to player development. Therefore he could go back to that role and be successful again, but whether he wants to do that is up to him.

He may have realised it was a job to far for him & still wants to be involved with the club in some capacity
