Woodburners

I installed my own after being quoted 3k just to have it installed and was told I needed a metal chimney liner fitted. Chimney sweep came and said utter b***ks as it was concrete lined. The price of fuel it unreal now. I often get any non treated wood I can from pallets to new tree trunks and leave to season in my wood store for 2 years.

Yeah I’ve been wanting to get one fitted this month - already have the opening boarded out and hearth down - but the prices have just been ridiculous

It was a piece of **** to install. I even phoned the council to come check it out. They weren't arsed. Just wish it was in the living room and not the dining room. Made my own render plate and sealed with fire cement. Expensive part is the granite hearth.

Sorry, wood that has been left outside, protected from the rain, for at least two years. It also saves on the energy expended in kiln drying wood.

Ah ok thanks - yeah, we leave stuff that long too. To be honest we've only got enough outside storage space for the bought-in logs so anything else is pretty minimal and we're happy to leave it for a decent amount of time while we get through the other stuff.
