Women's Euros 2022 Thread

'Imagine how it must have been in1966.
If you can remember that you lucky lucky person'

I can't remember but my dad's favourite story was how him and me (in my pram) watched the final in 66 in Germany (Munster). So i was sort of part of that (I'm half German and my dad was stationed there)
Today was lovely though. Great occasion, decent game. And A WIN!!!!! Cracker

And the crowd isn't made up of angry right wing knuckle draggers. Double whammy
It was a strange atmosphere. There was sporadic singing but not really any chants (other then "Come on England").

It was very friendly though and no trouble at all, despite pockets of German fans all round the ground.

Had a long drive back due to roadworks but I'd put up with that again in a heartbeat.

We really seemed to struggle with pace & sharpness at times but dug in and probably deserved the win.

Thought the ref was poor with how she dealt out cards but I don't think she missed too much (if that makes sense). She seemed more bothered by the dissent than by the studs embedded in a leg.

Was funny when she got booed while waiting for VAR though.

I thought Germany were very good, if a touch too cynical.

Brilliant day and the best result.

I was there yesterday. An incredible experience. No intimidation, no pushing and shoving at the ground, or at the station.. no boorish anti German songs, no booing the German anthem. Everybody completely immersed in the game for 120 minutes.

Nice photos Zoo.

Obvious didn't watch the game live at it was on at 4am but watched the highlights and could feel the tension, the will to win was high.

Clearly a very joyous occasion and will have a sea change effect on the women game in the UK.

Shocking that despite a large No of players being from the NE not one ground in the NE was selected.
I think we found out last night why. The clubs knocked them back when approached, they had to beg to get games staged was how it came across.

I do hope this success might spur a move to officially affiliate the Middlesbrough men's and women's teams (again?).
It's the winds of change and we don't want to be hold-outs.

It's a shame that there's no official link between the two right now, they don't even use the same badge.

They don't play in the same town, never mind use the same badge.

Was skim watching the WC Final in 1999 - the game Brandi Chastain scored the winning penalty and took her shirt off iconically - and how the ref was relaxed with the keeper. China missed their 3rd penalty at 2 hrs 12 in this footage. Look how far the US keeper come off her line to make the winning save
