Wolves at the door

All the bed wetting on here over a link. If he went tomorrow I wouldn't be that bothered
I'm actually thinking this way too.

RE would lose any credibility if he leaves here after less than 15 games. There is typically zero loyalty in football mind.

Anyway, it's written in the stars for Mogga to come back on an interim basis and take us up!

We would certainly create more under mogga

No way are they going for Edwards after how the Luton job went. He was lucky that he got this job, he certainly won’t get a premier league job yet.

Although if he does we can definitely replace him

Wolves are a bigger club and are in a position to offer him a much higher salary than the one he'll be on here. You also have to factor in that even if they go down this season, they'll have the parachute payments to fall back on next season. We're currently in a good position but it's always going to be a massive challenge for any manager, trying to get a club promoted from the Championship without parachute payments.

Factoring in his family situation, I'd say if he's offered the job he will take it.

Will be interesting to see how he plays it if asked about it in the presser, because if he doesn't shut it down there will be fans who'll use it against him and it will be Wilder all over again.

On the plus side, the last two occasions we sacked a manager at this stage of the season the new fella (Wilder & Carrick) took us on a sensational run of form! With our great start, we will be guaranteed promotion by Christmas!

Very smart!

From the bbc website

‘The 42-year-old is said to have support from the Wolves board as they start the process of appointing a new head coach.’

I agree. While I understand his connection to Wolves and having a family home in the midlands would make this an attractive move for him, it would be a MASSIVE career risk in my opinion.

I think this because I think there’s a very good chance that Wolves go down this year. They’ve been losing their best players for a couple of years now, and with the promoted teams performing well it’s probably the hardest season in recent years to keep up a team that has struggled in the past couple of seasons. Would they stick with a manager who takes them down? I don’t think I so. Even if they did, there’s no guarantee of going back up and if they did, you’re talking about 18 months of time. Average tenure of a manager is what… 2 to 3 years? At best you’re the manager who kept a team up and got sacked the following years when they struggle again. Worst case is that you ruin your reputation and get the team you love relegated. So from my perspective, you’re risking career suicide for very little reward by jumping now. Why not stick it out with us, you’d get a bucket load of loyalty if you take us up, and if not, you don’t lose much either.

I also don't think he's daft enough to ignore the strong likelihood that he could be sacked before the season is out if he couldn’t turn it around, and his reputation would be destroyed.
Their squad is very poor, and they're already 8 points adrift, it's a massive uphill battle.
I can't remember the last midseason appointment who took a team down from the Premier League and actually kept his job at the end of that season.
There's no goodwill to bank on with fans, just failure and they inevitably get sacked.

I really don't see them going for him, and I'm not sure he'd go there.

I think your second point trumps your first. It doesn’t sound a very likely appointment to me, more bookie speculation, but if it happens and he succeeds, his spell at Boro gets forgotten. He’s the bloke who kept Wolves up. And he gets to go again next season. If it fails, he gets sacked, but his spell at Boro still gets largely forgotten and he’s mainly the bloke who got Wolves relegated. And people possibly also then mention Luton.

I actually think it would be a weird appointment for them and if he hadn’t played for the club it wouldn’t even be being speculated about.

If Edwards goes could it be another return for the outstanding candidate….Mr Woodgate?!

I absolutely love Mogga but he hasn’t been successful at a club since 2008. Yes he got Blackburn promoted from league one in 2016ish but that was after he’d got them relegated there first.
Sacked by Sunderland, sacked by WBA, sacked by Celtic, sacked by Blackburn and sacked by us, it’d be a terrible appointment all round. People who claim he’d do a better job than the manager who has had the best start as a Boro manager since Jack Charlton, all because we’ve lost one game are either clueless or completely biased.

People forget how bad it is was at the end. Wasn't it about 4 wins in 12 months before the Barnsley debacle?

Mogga has been through a tough time of it - I doubt it would benefit us or most importantly his health to try again.

My biggest concern if he goes is a very big bid coming in January for Hackney. Possibly Fry as well but after the sales last summer Wolves have the £20m it would take to attract Hackney.

We really have sorted the recruitment out if we start getting some coin in for our managers as well!!
Nobody’s irreplaceable, if he is to, get the best deal for the club and move on. We put far too much energy into Wilders antics.
