William Koloko

The thing I don't quite understand at the moment - he keeps saying we can't name more U23s on the bench because we'd have to register them and that would take up places in the 25-man squad, meaning we can't bring in free agents. But am I right or wrong in thinking players under the age of 21 don't have to be registered as senior squad members?

Has that changed now? If it's still the case then he can name as many kids on the bench as he likes can't he?

I thought that was the case.

I've Googled it but the only official EFL page about this has a 404 message when you click on it. Which is very helpful. But a piece about Huddersfield in a Yorkshire paper says EFL clubs must name at least seven homegrown players in every matchday squad, and if they don't then you're only allowed to name six subs. I hadn't heard of this rule before. But can't find anything on the U21 issue.

No, that is plainly what he has been coached to do at the academy. That is how you should play, hoofing it into the stand or simply up the field is sometimes required but should not be the first thought of a modern professional footballer.
Yes but I genuinely think Jones struggles with that distinction and has been caught out a couple of times, causing unnecessary pressure.

An article about Blackburn in the Blackburn paper says anyone born before January 1 2000 has to be registered as a senior squad member, but players born after that do not. So we could name a bench with two or three - or more - youngsters on it and it wouldn't affect our chances of signing free agents. Does Warnock know this? That would be the question. Someone from the club has given him the wrong information, or he's talking out of his 'arris.

Huh? Seven home grown players sounds like a lot! What if the seventh sub was going to be a homegrown player? Or even 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th? It doesn’t make sense?!?

They don’t all have to come through Boro’s academy. Players like Crooks, Lumley, Howson et al count as homegrown. I think one of your matchday 18 has to have come through your own youth system.

Wouldnt surprise if warnock plays mr T (his pet project) somewhere...maybe wing back

· in other truly exceptional circumstances.

Kokolo and Malley are both over 21.

Unless the definition of under 21 covers all the way up to 22, which it might well do.

Well, it didn't happen. Koloko on the bench again. I'm still tempted to think Crooks may be one of 3 center backs. Or is it Payero?

His excuse for not putting youngsters on the bench were the 2 extra spaces for free transfers
We're in the 2nd half of October - these free transfers are not materialising - get the kids in. Can relist the 25 afterJanuary
