I don’t believe he’d be that selfish. Can only assume he’s staying if he hasn’t agreed to go by now.
I'm not sure that's selfish. It's practical and logical for both Lath and us. The club will be well aware on whether or not Lath is going to move to the US in the absence of a Prem offer. It sounds very likely, and we have had a month to plan accordingly.

Indeed we have had a month to play Lath when we had no other fit senior striker. Would be lovely if he signed off by starting and scoring on Monday, but extremely unlikely he'll still be here by kick off in my view.

He's going, the club want his replacement agreed etc before final rubber stamp, seems sensible to me - ensures we're not left high and dry

Middlesbrough in talks to sign Iheanacho and Iling-Junior

The moves appear to be related to Middlesbrough accepting a £22m bid from Major League Soccer club Atlanta United for star striker Emmanuel Latte Lath.

However, Latte Lath has kept the clubs involved waiting by stalling on agreeing personal terms.

Going

The delay will be just us getting in a replacement and Lath waiting to see if an offer comes in from the Prem or other top European league

How do we have time to make a permanent signing when LL deal is still not finalised ?
We have to get the right replacement, we would all like the at to happen now, but if it doesn’t then better to wait.

This is probably the best offer we will get for lathe and he isn’t long term committed so makes sense to sell. But if our number one, two and three targets aren’t available in January they may be in the summer. I’d rather wait and get the right one. One of the issues is we have a ~20% chance of promotion right now, and buying a top champo player will be a waste if we do go up.

It's a good deal all round really as the club banks megabucks and keeps the iron hot for a legit run at the playoffs with extra fire power with a veteran up top, which is what i've been calling for since day one.
