Wilfried Zaha

This is a player that wants to move to a champions league club every summer and rated £30-50m apparently. But how poor are these stats ?

Know what you mean. I like Zaha, what the stats don't show is that he does win a hell of a lot of penalties and free kicks around the box. Milivojevic gets 10 goals a season because Zaha gets kicked around so much, he's scored 21 pens in three seasons that will mostly have come from Zaha.

Double-edged sword with playing for Palace as he's by far their best player, but their only attacking threat. So everything goes through him, he gets double/treble marked or just fouled out of games and he's a bit ball-greedy, which is fair enough if you're playing with Jordan Ayew.

He should score more and I'm sure he would at a better team where he'd get more space.

Doesn't help him that his big club move didn't work out at all. Sir Alex Ferguson's last signing for Man United, lest we forget, but that move not working out seems to put bigger clubs off pulling the trigger. I think he'd do well at Spurs or Everton. Surprises me no-one's gone for him, but then again, Gareth Bale has been in Real Madrid's reserves for 2 years.

Would he not look better in a team where he is not the main and only attacking outlet... Regular games at a team like Tottenham might make him a different player.

This is why people don’t buy and sell players based on their appearance to goals ratio on Wikipedia

4 goals 5 assists last season, 10 goals 10 assists the season before, 9 goals 5 assists before that, 7 goals 11 assists before that - all premier league.

Add to that the comments above around sheer number of penalties won and the contribution he makes to games by being an attacking threat and it’s easy to see why he has value

He already had a bigger money move to Utd and fell flat on his face.

Palace's valuation of him last season when Arsenal were sniffing was just ridiculous.

He's very inconsistent, and he isn't clinical enough in front of goal for the big clubs.

Palace is probably his level.

He is always going to be worth more to Palace than Arsenal. He is difference between Palace staying up and going down but not sure he would chage Arsenal into a champions league team. Worth tens of millions to Palace's revenue but only tens of pence to the change in Arsenal's

Genuinely think if his nationality was classed as English and not Ivory Coast, he would've gone to a top 6 team by now this summer.

Why?
He was largely poor last season and Crystal Palace are hugely overvaluing him, that's why he's not gone anywhere, not because he's chosen to represent Ivory Coast.

It's ironic that he was probably poor last season because he was denied a move and it impacted his performances, and that in itself will now make it very hard for him to get the move he's demanding.

Would you rather have Son or Zaha on tbe left side ?.
Son is a far more productive player for me.
Also, didn’t Zaha have a failed flirtation with Man United ?.
I think he’s better off as a big fish in a little pond at Palace.

I don't understand that logic at all?

Top teams tend to spend more on English players, it's probably something to do with having home-grown players in their squad rota - look at Rodwell and Scott Sinclair as examples of this when they joined City a few years ago, and the way clubs sign old english keepers now like Scott Carson, Lee Grant at United.

I'm not sure if he still classes as home-grown or not with the nationality change tbh, but if that's a factor I reckon you would see more clubs going after him.

Talk of him going to Everton. Where have Everton got all this money ( probably Russia via their Iranian owners off shore accounts). They have spent £450m under Moshiri. The wage bill inc that of Ancellotti must be massive. Does FFP work in the Premier League?

I think that's true.
Palace owe their PL survival to their defensive record: in their PL years, they've frequently had the best defense in the bottom half of the table.

Actually, we had the best defense in the bottom half when we were relegated. The difference between them and us is that they have Zaha; an individual talent who can score 7-8 goals, and produce the same in assists in a season while the rest of the team maintain that solidity.

When they slap this price tag on him, it's to scare off bids, not to actually sell him.

He does.
Nationality is irrelevant to the home grown quota.

"UEFA defines homegrown players as those who, regardless of their nationality, have been trained by their club or by another club in the same national association for at least three years between the age of 15 and 21"

I'm pretty sure Ayala counted as a homegrown player.

If he played for England he would be more hyped than playing for ivory coast. Would probably add 10-15 million to his value.
He is still classed as homegrown as he came through the ranks as a youngster.
I think he would do well at arsenal or wolves.

End product is a bit 'meh' 😕

That said he can be a right handful. I'm pretty sure Joe Bennett was hauled off after an hour or maybe HT at the Riverside as he turned him onto knots (I may have imagined it?)

He's was never a 70mil player and not convinced he's a 50mil. Either way he needs out as this has gone on for two years.

I would say an Everton or arsenal at best. He's not a top 4 player.
