Wilders Agent

Wilder was a half decent manager who found a gimmick formation, when the formation was found out he was nothing special. He also seemed to be a terrible man manager.

Carrick has shown what can be done when you create a positive atmosphere within a club.

I'd rather just forget about Wilder now, he thought he was far too big for us even though he'd spent only 1 season in the top flight as a manager. Good riddance.

crazy when you think of the start he had ... clearly a honeymoon period that sadly went sour..... lovers tiff an' all that

I think CW gets a bad press over Chuba.
Although he wasn't included in all pre-season it was so he could find a club.
Didn't materialise and we dont get the strikers we want so CW has him training with first team is impressed and starts playing him. He got injured playing under CW.

He might have had some fortune with Chuba but if you want to look at a person who bombed him out look at the first CW. Plenty of reasons to be disappointed with Wilder's tenure but Chuba isn't one of them

Agree on Chuba being generally looked after okay by Wilder but confused by your “look at the first CW” comment above. Did you mean NW?

Wilders dogmatism to the wingback system found him out as a manger who is completely unable to adapt to anything else than one style of play

It worked for him for a good while at sheffield united as they probably had the personel at the time more suited to that style of play, but
any decent manager playing a system that was constantly failing would adapt and try and line up playing something else

The wingbacks 3-5-2 or 5-3-2 formation has an incredibly weak history of success in title winning or major tournament teams successes in footballing history,
it's a containing formation that occasionally works if you have the right balance and chemistry in the squad, but it doesn't need that much to suss out in reality,
stop the wingbacks going forward and it falls flat on its ****

We had been sussed, no doubt. Teams were looking at our games and easily exploiting our weaknesses. Teams who we were expected to beat were doing a job on us. Comfortably.

But he wouldn't change the system. And because of this stubbornness only one way we were heading 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️
