Wilder shows his limited ability - AGAIN

I think he is very limited in terms of how he wants to play and the players he needs. It's not necessarily a bad thing but if the club dont buy the types of player he needs then there is no point him being here.

The way he wants to play you cant play half cocked otherwise it doesnt work as we have seen quite a bit already.

Big few weeks for the club

The away form in 2022 is a joke (2 wins), and has sadly continued into this season. For me Wilder needs to set up differently away from home, the problem is, i don’t think he can
He won’t set us up differently. To be honest it’s a complete waste of your typing fingers’ energy. This is his system. This is what he does, what him and Alan Knill do. Because it works. It will work for us.

Face it, accept it. He’s not going to change his system. And I wouldn’t expect or want him to. You and me and all of us just need to be patient and let the bloke build. Buckle up and get behind it.

If we don't have the players or key players leave then you need to pragmatic enough to change the system. 2 wins away from home in 2022 clearly demonstrates that the formation and personel is not up to it and that is ultimately down to the manager. away from home we are getting outnumbered and dominated but he won't drop a defender and put more bodies in midfield. We are so predictable in the setup as well there are no surprises at all from us

Maybe the manager knows the players, where their fitness levels are at, how pre season went, the second game of the season and you've written the manager off.
QPR
Average mid table team.
Sussed us out easily tactically and wilder had no answer whilst taking zero responsibility for picking the wrong side.
This situation occurred at least 6-7 times last season under Wilder but especially away from home WHEN WE HAD tav.
Bristol, hull, Preston , Barnsley (all very poor) and then….Sheffield and Blackburn
Wilder had no clue how to react tactically in terms of changing things around and going 4-4-2. Or 4-3-3. Etc etc….he has no plan B or C…
He’s supposed to be ‘all that’ and he just isn’t. I think he talks a lot and says ‘nothing’
My definition of a bull sihitter.

That’s why I’m saying let him build. He’s not even had a full summer window yet. Two games into a season. Let’s see how it looks on September 1st. But I wouldn’t expect a manager to change or ditch their principles TBH.

I’d much prefer that they were backed and supported and give time and space to build.

Takes one to know one and all that.

I dont think he will either but what do you think happens if we dont get the players he wants?

Square pegs again? He leaves?

I suppose flexibility is always a bonus but u look at the greats and good managers around today and they rarely change there core style or formation.

We wait. We build. We let him and his staff work with the lads on the training field. When the next window opens, we set out to buy what we need. We improve incrementally, in a sustainable manner. This is what the Boro need to do IMO.

No more chopping and changing. Back this bloke. He’s good. He’s respected. Let him do his job. It’ll take longer than he’s had so far, that’s for sure.

With one slight proviso, he is totally committed to that approach. He is on record as wanting promotion this year and talked of marquee signings, which have not, as yet, materialised. I am not convinced that the hierarchy and Wilder are on the same page despite his comment they were. That said he is the best manager we have had in years and it is up to Gibbo to keep him sweet as best he can.

I think he wants promotion any year though. He wanted it last season. He was mightily p*ssed off with the way it ended, despite him saying last season was a bit of a bonus or a free hit and this season was the time to judge.

I agree about the joined up thinking though. If we back this manger he’ll take us up. If we don’t then we’re daft. Because it’d be nailed on that he’d take his next Championship side up.

Yep agree with that & the way in which the goals went in yesterday & v WBA, it doesnt look as though we're learning

The transfer situation with us has been a head-scratcher for the past 3-4 seasons and it doesn’t seem to have improved even with the influx of a football director.

Perhaps we’re aiming for players who are really out of our reach. Our transfer policy is weird imo as I certainly would not have brought in a loaner to play as a No.1 keeper. I’m sure that the outfield players are thinking the same thing also— he’s the boss of the goal yet he’s a temp. Stupid.

If you look up and down the leagues (including abroad) there can’t be many organizations who decide on having a temp as your number keeper.

Its not just two games into a season though the poor away record goes way back into last season. The first half yesterday was a shambles as was the last away match of the previous season I dont accept it's just personnel hes tatically setting the team up incorrectly. What's most galling and completely unacceptable is being outfought he has to take some responsibility for his team. let's hope it does turn round in time with new players until they come in, is it same old same old and away day batterings to a soft centred boro because of wilders principles
