Wilder shows his limited ability - AGAIN

Wilder has bags of ability. The side is not and will not be strong enough to go up this year, it is what it is. Lets consolidate and keep the tav / spence money in the bank for FFP etc. Were lucky to have wilder, without him this squad would really struggle, with him its competitive. But one thing is certain, 5 players will not be enough to get us anywhere near a promotion challenge so please Buddha don't go out and spend big this year!!!! Let's make sure we can challenge over the next few years. I'm enjoying the ride, I just really don't want us to go for broke this year
And this is from a bloke who admitted he doesn’t like Wilder. FairPlay

I would say 2 good CMs and 2 decent forwards and we will be challenging this year.
Going to be one of the most open Championships (sounds like golf......🤔) for a long time. And I'm confident we will be in the top 6 mix.

As it stands, looking ahead a bit, name 6 teams which are way ahead of us and will likely occupy the automatic/playoff positions. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

In all honesty apart from Burnley and Watford I just don't know enough about the other sides, I just can't imagine the side we have (plus a few additions) being close. What makes menreally believe this is that we will almost certainly be playing catch up, 3 weeks of the window then a couple of months for the side to gel. I personally wouldn't go in heavy on spending and re asses next year, we will be comfortably safe, place some nice stuff and no doubt enjoy the season anyway.

We need a midfielder to make up for losing all the work Tav gets through. You saw yesterday the effect losing him had on us during transitions.

We need a left sided centre half so that aerial ball in that channel doesn't look so dangerous all the time.

We need two forwards who bring more than what we have.

We could've done with another creative option in midfield.

If we somehow get those players in they'll take some bedding in, however I think if we do we'll be fine. If not I foresee a season of excuses by a manager who feels let down by those above him, which is a recurrent theme despite some of our mad spending when we've had divvys in charge.

We desperately need two CMs; MF is being over-run / bypassed frequently and we missed Tav's industry yesterday.
2 CMs and 2 CFs with a further 2-3 additions, give them time to settle in. Let's see where we are in October after a dozen games or so.

If we had won our first two games, fans get carried away, champions by Xmas. If we lost them both, disorderly queue forming at the Transporter Bridge. There's a bit of middle ground. We were very good first half against West Brom. We were good second half yesterday. It's not all bad - but definitely not good. Plenty to work on.

44 games, 132 points to play for 👍
disorderly queue? Is that possible? ;)

I would agree with that early days but there doesn't seem to any outstanding promotion candidates. We need to recruit 2 quality midfielders for sure. As for wilder I think hes is intransigent in tactics, QPR first half was like Preston last season the setup all wrong and the midfield swamped but he doesn't seem to want to go out with any other setup than 532. I would also argue because we play in such an unusual way with centre backs we would have been better suited to bring fry and or McNair back in who know when to step into midfield and support. lenihan needs to learn the nuances of the system. However the biggest failing of all has been mcgree in central midfield he can't play there I have some sympathy with wilder because he wasn't expecting to lose tav however he needs to come up with a short term solution and a long term one with recruitment. I hate to say it but physically we are not up to the fight in there if we played Sunderland tomorrow they would kick us off the park in midfield. You have to earn the right to play football in the championship mcgrees pirouettes and penatrative passing means nothing if he can't hold is own physically in midfield

Wilder has gone from saying ‘we will change from a possibility to probability’ of promotion to saying he doesn’t think a top half finish would be a bad thing.

I haven’t really seen anything from him yet to suggest he’s going to be a great success here, an as previously alluded to, he had his head turned by Burnley. I wouldn’t be surprised if he isn’t our manager by the end of the season.

The OP is one of the more original "comic" inventions on this board. A caricature of the "expert" football fan. I mean he's no Dennis Wick (nor yet his dog Polly) but spot on.

Good work whoever is running this character. (y)

What’s stupid about it?
He is one of the best yes but THE best is a matter of opinion and I would say yours is overly biased towards wilder how do you know he is a better manager than jon dahl tomasson or Vincent company or even shota arveladze. If he wins the league with Boro then say it but we are million miles away.

As you say it’s just an opinion and it’s mine, for me he’s a top top manager and has a great coaching team. He will get us up IMO.

QPRs first home game with their new gaffer and you know they are out to impress - therefore for us the task is made even harder when you have a ‘sophisticated’ bull shatter of a manager who professes to be this ‘all knowing’ ‘wise owl’ yet he can’t pick the correct style forwards in a game whereby everyone knows we needed some physical presence up top so to pick forss and watmore together wasn’t just the wrong decision : for me it highlighted a manager who doesn’t know what he’s doing….

And to leave fry on the bench when they have 4 players who are 6,4 or more…..
his job is to make us tough to beat until he gets reinforcements in but he’s proving himself to be short in vital areas for me.

As I said a few weeks before the season but got a barrage of derision (bless most of you blind faith followers of an over confident 2nd hand car sales man)

Safe to say, I see right through Chris Wilder.
One trick pony tactically and now can’t pick the correct team yet let’s blame the ref for some distraction tactics…

I’m not convinced he’s developing much team spirit either and that’s everything if you want to be a success in football.
Maybe the manager knows the players, where their fitness levels are at, how pre season went, the second game of the season and you've written the manager off.

I thought qprs second goal was a foul.
We should have had a penalty, and our third goal which was given offside looked like we got done by officials in London yet again.
We definitely missed tav first half.

The away form in 2022 is a joke (2 wins), and has sadly continued into this season. For me Wilder needs to set up differently away from home, the problem is, i don’t think he can
